If I wait till it's done, and it works, and then I post details, then I won't look stupid with my crappy idea... or that's how my mind works :p

lets just say it's not stock.

I get my piggy back in a few hours... the upholsterer said that my headliner idea was great and it looks like a factory installation.

:hhmm: Still playing it safe huh? You will be selling your solution on Ebay? ;)

Holding my breath..........

I can't wait to see the write up even though I need to replace the cargo rubber anyways. Now waiting for a return call from Cabe:mad:

Did you use a SOR headliner? Or did the shop make something up?

John, Herb is the guy there that really knew what from what. I originally called a couple of times. Couple of the guys were sorta clueless...thinking they only had one side or were not sure what they had. But Herb was excellent and obviously a "real deal" parts guy...he even used to know Seth from PVCruisers....so, if you feel like there are questions...get to Herb.

Still not sure if I want the tan interior or not.

Tan? Not off-white like original? I see it on my PC color mix as off-white. Tan I do not want either...don't want black visor covers (that's shabby of them). I know I have seen similar material at a local shop...I have just been assuming that the pattern cuts would be too much $$$$$.

Actually, I see that now...2 pictures...one off-white, one tan. :hhmm:

Sorry for the delay- Here's what happened:
I looked at the situation and noticed that there is a metal ledge about 1/2 inch wide around every spot where the headliner tucks under a window weatherstrip. Seeing how Toyota used the white ivory strip to finish off the headliner in the rear, I thought that you could just get a strip of something flexible, drill a row of holes and screw it thru the headliner edges into the sheetmetal. So I told the upholsterer guy my idea, and he said he'd see what he could do.

He said he ended up attaching a tack-strip that he had to the little metal ledge - then secured the headliner to it, then covered it up. I am not an upholster so I don't know the details, but I'm guessing the tack strip had a cover of some sort built into it.

It does look good though- I would have been happy with a row of visible screws!

If you had a 1/2 strip of something flexible, you could pull the headliner tight, and screw it down into the sheetmetal underneath - that's totally doable by one's self.

Headliner

Weeboo, could you get the info on what kind of strip he used, or PM me his number. I have a SOR headliner that's been sitting in a box for a year. I really like what your guy did and would like to do the same so any info you could provide would be helpful.
Thanks

Lou
