Look at this windshield spraying motor, just disintegrated by rust. Anyway got a good package from Cruisin Offroad, a new winch so I can start building up the bumper and some slider frame clamps.

snazzy.
Do you figure this will be out by spring driving around?
what are you planning new for the interior?

Hoping for a spring drive out of the shop on it's own power (bonus if it is done by the summer) but realistically I will be happy if I finish it next winter.

Interior will just get a more comfortable drivers seat (really like the prelude seats in my 42), then some extra turbo gauges, a nice stereo, and probably a custom dash top made into a basket where I can put files for work and such. Otherwise just a good cleaning.

So work has been putting a hold on a lot of my good progress lately, then some skiing, curling, and this weekend was the anual kegger. I did get a couple hours in the shop though and managed to get most of the peices of the winch mount cut up and drilled, now just need to weld it up so I can get on the actual bumper and bush gaurd part of it. Sorry bout the crappy iphone pics.
Cheers,
Deny

So between, sledding, drinking, hockey, a bruised rib, a new GF, and helping a buddy move, I still managed to put a little time into the bumper. Started with making the winch mount, then took a 6inch channel and roughed in a bumper. yesturday I bought another 200 of metal for all the finishing touches, the brush guard, and all the slider and fender protection material. Can't wait to get fabricating.

notching, heating, bending, rewelding, and trimming got the basic shape in place ;)

Looks great!

Congrats on the GF, but you know what that's going to do to your free time (ask me how I know :princess:, :bounce:, :bounce:) :grinpimp:

Ha ha, thanks Rob. Yeah I know, she's got her own hobbies, so I am hoping I can still find the time for mine ;)

So got a bit more done this weekend. I think this is definately the last fancy bumber I make unless I have a plasma cutter or big band saw or something, tired of zip disking 1/4 inch plate and dealing with all these friggen angles and s***. Took me most of the morning on Sunday to make that stupid bottom plate and weld it on. Cut those holes in to get a bit more air flow, plus a place for the high lift to jack up the front end.

Then I got tired of the grinding and welding (couldn't really open the shop since it was cold to air out too much) so I got the front tires mounted so that when I get to the sliders and fender protection/flares, I will have some width to go on. And I got to say looks really sexy now, even better in person than in the photo, the tires look like they fit. Could go a bit bigger, but I think after I mount a few more of the metal peices, things will sag a little and it will be perfect.

I'm following this from all the way here....That bumper is looking good!

Keep it up, and looking forward to seeing the completed project

Thanks boozewz, hopefully the bumper is going to be a cross between my first bumper from my dodge, and the second one like my wagon. Fancy like the dodge one and yet more compact and tucked in like the wagon.

To dispute Rob's accusations, here is a quick update of some progress from this weekend and even got a little grinding time in last night. Shape is coming together, now just a couple more small metal patches, lots of grinding, then on to the tubing. I put a photo on my cell phone wall paper to keep me motivated on this thing :hillbilly:

Looking good. I like the simple design; inspiring me to tweak the bumper I have for my 8274.

Whoa there rob, this bumper is way to complicated for a simple little 40 series. :hillbilly: Don't get carried away with them old trucks, simple is better, looks more old school! :hillbilly:

Ha ha, thanks for the vote of confidence Kevin ;)

It sort of is old school in that I swapped in old school axles :hillbilly:
