wonder why the 100 a/c fan is making a weird noise...

The intake is in the plenum (black plastic trim) under the wind shield. You will see slits in that plastic.

Cheers. That explains how the FSM mentions you should check to see whether the intake temp is different the outlet temp to see if the a/c is working. This I can actually do, I thought checking the temp differential would be a 2 man job. In this case it's just a matter of feeling with two hands, something our hands are exceptionally capable of doing.

My a/c isn't but that's another story. I thought I would take the opportunity to do some other work as well.

God I love this forum.

With the middle skid plate removed.

If you are under the car, head toward the front, on the passenger side, look up and next to the frame near the wheel well you will see a small rubber drain. It only sticks out 1/2". That's the evap drain. This is where the water comes from when you run your AC on a hot day and a small pool appears under your car.

Here is a pic from Ronulus in a similar thread.

I'd like to route mine elsewhere. In tue GA heat it looks like I left the faucet on at a stop light. That ad when I park I see something leaking, someone always says something.

that has got to be the easiest thing to do on the truck. I was bracing myself for taking off the dash and all, but nope. You can have the blower out as you see it above in, lesseee, literally 30 secs if you have the tools ready. 2 mins if you need to go find the right wrench and star bit.
Now the full housing OTOH looks a bit more time consuming and may need some dash removal, not sure.

For the blower above, look up from the passenger footwell, it's right there. One connector off, 3 screws and it comes right off downward. No need to take anything else off. Needs only a minor bit of lying down contortionism with the sill digging in your back.

(all for an 03)

WTF type of screws are those? I see I could use a flathead, but I avoid using those like the plague. Looks sort of like a large Torx.

I also can't figure out the connector. You would not believe how many connectors I have snapped, popped, cracked or broken, so better I ask first. Should I just be pulling the connector straight down? It has "grippy" parts on the sides.

There's 2 minutes of my life I'll never get back. Peace of mind though, it seems mine hasn't had a hard life....

squeeze the grippy part and pull down. The screws are torx.

Fed, IIRC, there was a detent latch on the "wide" part of the connector that had to be squeezed before pulling. (Then again, I may be thinking of an 80 starter I just took out... life is a mess... :) )

yes Torx (+ straight blade) but pretty small. What kind of tiny Torx are you usually dealing with?

yup, mini dino skull. Been way out in the backcountry... :)

Very helpful. I'll check mine at lunchtime. Thank you.

Found this to go with @RobRed or @Ronulus 's picture for the A/C refresher kit.

Going to see if I can track down the Toyota kit tomorrow.

Cleaned mine, screwed it back on, no blower.

Anyone have any quick trouble shooting ideas? I tried jiggling the wires without taking it back off.

Edit add:
Hit a rest stop, unscrewed it, it spun freely, screwed it back in, working fine.

My fan developed a whining/squealing sound, on all settings but low. I took out the fan there was just a few small leaves, which surprised me. I haven’t reinstalled it yet, as I really don’t think the sound matched debris in the housing. I’m guessing a bearing is on its way out. When I spin it by hand , I can’t discern anything. Any thoughts? If it the bearing is it best to buy a whole new fan? Thanks in advance.
