Does the LC have the molded tool kit holder in the rear lid like the LX. I know the upper lid is powered in the LX, not sure of any differences in tailgate.

Yes. Same black plastic, molded toolkit.

Doesn't the LX have a 'soft-open' feature on the lower gate? Similar to the Nissan Titan tail gates?

I don't need to hold weaponry in mine, but I would absolutely love a replacement which:
  1. Provides for more storage space since there's very little in the trunk, and
  2. Is solid plastic (preferably in tan) or metal, since the carpet on mine is stained and looks like crap

I'm looking into a few different options right now. The deck and lid will be metal (either steel or aluminum or a mix). I will likely be working on a full size insert for those that would benefit from one. And I am looking into carpeted top options as well. There are a few local companies that I have near me that do similar stuff but very different applications.

Could the doors be done in a starboard like material or combined as an overlay ?

I like the integrated torsion bar idea and or beefing it up. I like and use my 80 lid but damn if it isn't a heavy beast now. (Not to sound like a sandy V) ha:princess:

Well, I know there are others that are probably looking to make a tailgate lid for the 200 but I'm going to move forward on my vision for it since I walked away from doing it for the 80s.

There are more than a few things to work out concerning making and installing a tailgate lid for the 200s. It needs to follow the same fit and finish as the useless plastic insert that is in there now. Currently there are two carpeted doors in the lid and I'm planning on keeping the dual lid design. This is for two reasons: 1) there is already two lids in the tailgate and 2) because for those that utilize their tailgate for camping, it makes it easier to get inside when you don't have to clear off the entire tailgate just to get in.

I will be making carpeted lids as an option and I'm already working with a shop to make these up for me. But...there is something else I want to do on these and I happen to have three shops close to me to make this happen, and thats making an ABS vacuum formed liner that drops inside that is far larger than what you have now and allows you to hard mount accessories, tools, supplies, etc.

The CAD file for the tailgate itself is done and I've already been playing with different lid designs. The biggest issues are the torsion bars that run in the middle of the tailgate and the latching mechanism that is just below the sheetmetal. I can't have people potentially cutting the mechanism so I'm just going to have the cut out go around it altogether. The rib supports themselves just need to have their spot welds drilled out. Not such a big deal and I may just supply the tools needed so that folks can do this themselves.

I'm also talking to a shop that makes torsion bars and I might be able to make an upgraded torsion bar so that the added weight of the tailgate doesn't feel SO heavy for people. ;)

Thoughts? Input?

It's not an easy solution because of the arc of the rear of the lid. Otherwise I'd be close to done. As I clear this hurdle I will post up. I wouldn't count on it for Spring. Shooting for Summer.

Waiting... Ready to load it up with fun stuff!

Maybe this is what I am looking for.

Yes. It is what I'm waiting for in order to store my own Benelli. But yours? I think it will still be too long with that suppressor.

You could knock some length off your Benelli with a collapsible...or with some shorter configurations...

Ya, I added a 7 round tube on my M4...which means you can max out at 9 rounds. 7 in the tube...one in the chamber, and one more in the carrier for 9 total. Super easy to carrier-load on the Benelli. Just takes a bit of practice.

If I ever neex more than 5 rounds of 12 gauge. I will be in trouble :) but it is cool to have 9 rounds.

Ha! True. :hillbilly: But ya gotta admit... It's just plain fun to blast a few extra rounds at the range.
