What an amazing thread, @Comet ! You not only have patience to see this through, you have a great sense of humor that really comes through in the thread.
Best of luck moving forward!
Thank you! As many will attest, it has not been without issue. I have been very neglectful of this project since its inception. I am shocked my wife hasn’t cut me yet. Sunday when WTF came home, she had that forlorn look on her face of past injustices never made right. Dinner was late that night because she saw me put on my welding costume. I value her input and descriptions of what is to come.

I can relate.
I’ve been absolutely obsessed with my project, and now that there is an actual possibility that there may be a time come when we might see a light at the end of the tunnel, it got me to thinking I might have hell-to-pay coming up.

Best I can hope for is just multiple layers of heck.

We’ll see.

Oh, I have a chapter in that book too. If you don’t mind, I’m gonna follow along. 🍿 🍺 👈🏻

I’m rooting for you.

@Chungas Revenge I thought you’d never ask! I am honored.

@Ditcherman the OSHA approved foot wear only comes out in warmer weather. But yes, my feet show the marks of battles fought long ago in that very driveway.

I just saw the german court ruled Birkenstock are shoes not art so they don't get extended protection from competition. They should have hired Disney lawyers because of their success in the copywrite extensions known as the Disney Protection Act.

With Birkenstocks I would be unstoppable!!

36 hot rivets removed. 28 holes welded shut, Porter Cable angle grinder from 2008 dies, new Milwaukee grinder works out of the box, weather cooperates, neighborhood children investigate, and poof! I am ready for the rear frame boxing to commence on Tuesday (weather permitting). Hangover in full effect.

@Comet glad you got what you needed when you did. Pipe burst in the ceiling of the shop this weekend. If you had waited much longer, we’d be pulling that engine in the dark while standing in 2 inches of water!!!

2 days and 40+ gallons of wet vac’ it and blowers…I think we’re gonna be fine, but it was interesting to walk in to work on my project just to see that there was a torrential downpour inside.

@FJ Noob I am so sad to hear this! I hope the front room stayed dry. That’s a lot of water. Thanks again for allowing me to lighten your load of parts and bits with doo dads. They will go to good use.

Rufus, my 10 year old dog, claimed the back patio as his own. A welder I am not, a grinder I will be. Hit the 9 o’clock hour on my weekly Tuesday night escapades so I quietly cleaned up the mess. One pound of the Champagne of beers and I was happy with my “welds”.

Show off the new concrete!

Show off the new concrete!
I will get one tomorrow of the back patio. Just like WTF, the patio is moving at the same glacial pace. Poured the concrete three years ago this coming April. Roof went on one year ago in April. Everything is covered and it looks like a vagrant has been living there. I won’t move a thing for you!

Ball hitch. What strikes me as odd, it isn’t that it’s upside down but that it hasn’t been used.

Raw, etching primer, rusty primer, rustoleum epoxy high gloss. The blitz black has not held up well. It was probably the guy at the other end of the spray can.

@GLTHFJ60 just for you! The mattress went to the curb this morning. 16 x 30 space with a 3’ overhang to shield me from the morning sun.

Last week was Mrs Comet’s spring break so I stayed home to keep her out of trouble. The to-do list involved conduit and pulling wires to finalize Area 41. The lesser of areas that house many secrets.

Good, bad, and ugly welds on WTF. Along with new rear shoes for Georgine. Thank you Cruiser Outfitters for the parts.

And this happened on Thursday. Meet Bread-pronounced “Big Red”. This was a parts run gone terribly wrong. Just the 5 speed manual conversion parts for the 1988 Isuzu Trooper-or so I thought. Bread is a 1991 attached to the 5 speed conversion that came home with me instead of just parts. I am beginning to think I have a problem.

Bread is stored out of sight. Patio project continues. Tuesday was a success and a failure all in one. Engine, transmission, and transfer case are mated together. Engine hoist (listing a little to the left) was not tall enough to raise the combination into the frame. Full stop after just an hour. I feel like Rufus looks. More to come.
