It's there a sound quality difference between factory Bluetooth and the beat sonic? I've found that the LX570 factory Bluetooth connection sounds better than when using the Grom VLite and Android Auto.I've had this installed for a few months now. I have to say I'm very impressed. Only complaint is that the charging is slow. I actually bought a usb3.0 extender and mounted the USB port next to the cigarette lighter via cutting a small slot and it looks absolutely factory. I'm using an iPhone and it 99.8% of the time works flawlessly. Only weirdness I've ever had is if I walk away from the car with my phone while it's still running, reconnecting to carplay can be hit or miss. Otherwise it just works. This is actually what sold me on getting a GX. I got really addicted to carplay and I just couldn't see spending ~$30k on a vehicle and it not have carplay. I would say this actually works Better than the built-in carplay I had in my ford, which had a bit more finickyness.
I haven’t noticed any difference in sound quality, but I’m not an audiophile. It's there a sound quality difference between factory Bluetooth and the beat sonic? I've found that the LX570 factory Bluetooth connection sounds better than when using the Grom VLite and Android Auto.
Had this issue in my gx. Ended up being an issue with the sound settings. Your bass/treble, etc is channel specific, so BT is different from FM and so on. You need to get into the factory UI while in USB mode and then change the audio settings to match what you have on your BT side. Once I did that, it pretty much solved it. Likely a similar scenario for beatsonic since it's an interface issue with the actual lexus portion. It's there a sound quality difference between factory Bluetooth and the beat sonic? Thanks for the reply. Sounds settings are sat. Sadly there are actual artifacts in the music along with a slight loss of fidelity.Had this issue in my gx. I'm not having the phone connect. I select phone and autodial, but voice doesn't come through, neither does voice on directions if I'm playing satellite or fm radio.I’m new here but thought I’d share my thoughts on the BeatSonic wireless CarPlay/AA unit. It’s fantastic. I haven’t had any issues using it in the 2 weeks that I’ve had it installed. It does take a few seconds to connect each time, but it does connect every time. I did not want the USB sticking out from under the dash or console, so I routed it through the side access panel in the glove box with a grommet to protect it from the plastic edges. It’s not cheap, but it is cheaper than an aftermarket wireless head unit and retains all the factory infotainment functions. A huge upgrade for my ‘12 GX.

This may sound like a silly solution and I've had this issue before when connecting my phone to my car.I'm not having the phone connect. I select phone and autodial, but voice doesn't come through, neither does voice on directions if I'm playing satellite or fm radio.
Oh, and source must stay on Aux to hear audio from the unit. If your source is FM radio, you can run and see maps on the unit, but will not be able to hear audio directions. If you use iHeart radio on the unit, you can hear both.I have to echo the praise for this unit. I've had it for about a year or so and I'm really happy with it. The wireless connection has only failed to connect once and that was on me. I was changing settings on my phone. I too routed the USB into the glove box for charging when necessary. I did the install myself. It's not too bad. You will have a bundle of wires to tidy up before you can put everything back together. I don't use sat radio. Just my two cents.
Most companies recommend you do only for liability I suppose. I didn't when I installed my GROM. It's entirely up to your best judgement here. Finally ordered this kit and planning to do the install next week. Any reason I should disconnect the battery before installing? The youtube vids don't mention it.
For me: effort vs. peace of mind to disconnect, I'd disconnect. Just pop the - (negative) cable. Finally ordered this kit and planning to do the install next week. Any reason I should disconnect the battery before installing? The youtube vids don't mention it.
That's never a bad idea, although I didn't disconnect the battery when I installed the unit. A tip, before you shut off the vehicle, turn the wheel so that the largest gap in the wheel is closest to the infotainment screen. This will let you get to one of the screws you'll need to remove a bit easier. I didn't see that mentioned in the videos I watched. In other words, turn the wheel about a quarter turn to the right of center. Good luck. Finally ordered this kit and planning to do the install next week. I disconnected the battery, and recommend it for any type of board install. Boards are by nature very fragile. Most companies recommend you do only for liability I suppose. I didn't when I installed my GROM. It's entirely up to your best judgement here.
Thanks, I knew it worked with AUX and Bluetooth, but wasn't sure if built in CarPlay worked that way as well.Oh, and source must stay on Aux to hear audio from the unit. Well, I finally got it installed, disconnected battery and all. Wife is thrilled to have carplay, since it's her daily driver. Taking a road trip over the weekend so will see how well it performs and figure out the quirks. I found the following video from Eric the most helpful as it demonstrates how to install wire by wire, instead of disconnecting everything and reassembling. Found that to make for a pretty straight forward install. Finally ordered this kit and planning to do the install next week. Any reason I should disconnect the battery before installing?
