Now that I've joined the 55 club, I'm now searching for those hard to find items like a rear window gear.

From the threads, I've read lately it looks like the trail has gone cold on sources.

I've had correspondence with a person that can likely make some.

I think I can get one made for me but I'm willing to also shell out some money to help my cruiser brethren get their hands on the coveted window gear.

They'll likely be $75 or less shipped depending on what kind of quantity I can drum up.

Respond if you'd be interested in one or more if I can make this happen. No promises, but I need one so I have some interested in getting this done.

I'll give the forum a little time to respond and see where the quantity takes us.

Yes, one for me. Brass would be the optimal. It being softer than the worm gear, sparing the worm gear if there ever was a cog misalignment.

Isn't the worm gear plastic?

I need one of these as well for a '72 Pig. (Sorry for the cruddy pic quality, I can take a better photo if needed) Mine looks like this:

for posterity the part number of that gear was 72751-39020. Now discontinued of course.

I can't say for certain. The last time I sold one was in August of 2009. The October 2010 price disc shows it discontinued. So, sometime between August 09 and October 10.

Hi Nik -
Just curious where you stand on this and it sounds like there may be more than one style of gear - which one are you planning to reproduce? Just curious as I need one before I can do any reassembly on my tailgate - taking it apart once is enough for me!
Thanks,
Tom

Sorry for the double post. Here's a pic of what I assume is the other style for reference (stolen from another thread):

My '69 has a metal (steel) worm gear and a plastic helical gear. The drive unit is all over the work bench.
