Any follow up on this? I’m looking to do the same thing as my ‘tick’ is getting worse. Wild love your thoughts and general cost estimate for a full exhaust. Thx!!
Okay, sorry for the long delay, been busy. Here's my full rundown;

2007 LX470, stock. 287,XXX miles when the exhaust was installed. As I mentioned it was pretty challenging due to lack of clearance, you have to disconnect the motor mounts and jack the engine up a few inches (watch the fan / shroud and coolant T's when you do this). I used new OEM studs and nuts and the DT gaskets, I read later that I should've used the Toyota gaskets so I'll probably go back in next year and change them.

We did the headers on 8/6/2020 then on 8/14/2020 I took the car to Red Run Exhaust in Ephrata PA and they did a full header back system. They did new cats, 2.5in from the headers into a big Magnaflow, then 3in from the muffler into a resonator then out the side corner. I had them point it out of the corner because I hated having exhaust blowing on me if I was standing in the back loading / unloading.

Headers shipped from DT - $875
Studs and nuts - $100
Red Run Exhaust - $691

I do a lot of driving in my vehicles and I drive my car pretty aggressively. I'll say that the power improvement was VERY impressive, definitely surprising and borderline shocking. My wife who DDs it often (she really doesn't care about cars or performance) called me in disbelief at how fast it was. How many HP gain? I don't know, a significant amount to get this big monster up and going as quick as it did. I'm very impressed with the headers and the performance from them and would do this again.

Last note, it sounds very nice, I like my cars quiet and this exhaust isn't very loud, doesn't drone on the highway. I nice throaty burble around town.

Awesome writeup. I'm taking delivery of my DT Headers in Oct.

Curious how much of the power gain comes from the headers + hi-flo cats vs the rest of the exhaust... I'm guessing (hoping!) it's mostly headers and cats, since that's what I'm replacing.

I asked DT about the VVTi headers…

At this time, we do not have a production run scheduled for those headers and do not have any plans to bring back the THY-562-SS-C.

I don't blame them. There were some issues with them, mostly relating to the primary tube rubbing on the frame/shock tower based on several folks I spoke with. Seemed to be a hit or miss issue but not worth the risk given the pain the a$$ install.

Do like the tundra guys, install the DT non VVTi headers and plug the SAI ports (tap and install cap screws w/ hi temp threadlocker). Yeh, you'll have to bypass the SAI system but that's easy w/ the Hewitt bypass kit.

Got the parts sitting here to do the plugs and non VVTi headers on my VVTi motor before I install it back in my '06.

I followed up and asked about the 98-04 headers…

“Unfortunately, we are out of stock on those headers. However, when we begin our next production run, they will likely be included.

Please stay tuned — when more details become available, we’ll reach out to you.”
