enough already, Doug... Get a 100! We know you want one. Plus then you can justify hanging around these parts...
:)

what? you got rules for those who can hang around here? do I need a capuccino maker installed in mine to qualify?

well, you got a great beer cooler already in one of yours, right? Not that big a step up. Then you can listen to NPR with a cap in hand instead, much better...! :D

FYI, there were posts earlier this year of a 100 with 33" tires up on the Con. It was being driven by Toyota Engineers while testing the prototype FJ Cruisers.

Yes, this 2 of 100 Series w/ 33" to support prototype FJ Cruiser did made it thru but that was 72 hours AFTER Amando made his exit from the Rubicon!

This date was confirmed by the Rubicon FJ Cruiser article on the 4 Wheelers maginize as the trail boss tell his story w/ date included.

Althought Amando did have 35" BGF tires, he decided to borrowed my 35" MTR tires just for this Rubicon trip.

Not only he is a great driver but he is very knowledgeable on which 4x4 products that will work well on this brutal trail.

Cheers,

I would spend your money fabricating a real skid plate that goes all the way past the transfercase instead of the larger tires, but that is just my .02.

Yeah, the radial 35" offerings are so small and the 33's I am running are pretty true, I don't think it is worth the effort.

I was thinking about underside armor already. For sure, skids for the rear control arms, and now taht you mentioned it, the Tcase would be smart as well.

I just dont think the trail is worth me dragging out the buggy. I want to do it and the only other car I have is the 100.......

Front locker is mandatory though. No way I would trust the POS TRAC system to get me through.

Besides, as for body damage, who cares, I have full coverage :) :)

Running the buggy it wouldn't even be mildly challenging (I would think) whereas the 100 will take some real effort. It will also make a nice article.

Front locker would be great too. I don't think I'd try it without.

Spare CV and a spare lower control arm perhaps in the tool kit?

Also about the tires, there is not a dime worth of difference in my 325 Nittos and the 35" version. I measured a set the other day on a truck and they were 1" taller mounted on the truck.

Are you crazy? 100's are for the road.

PS, don't take your 18's into the Rubicon. You will trash the rims. Remember mine in Canada. Get a cheap set of 16's.

The rim design just sticks out to much to be protected by the tire.

The Rubicon looks kinda like a road compared to the trails I usually wheel ;)

As for the rims, I have two sets :D

Besides, the 16s are just gay looking.

You serious?

Sure I am.

I just ordered the front ARB. Now, who has the hookup on the 4.88 gears?

I need to get that on order ASAP....

John, nice article in Toyota 4WD owner......I read every word. Nice work.

Nolen,
is it possible to do the 100 on the rubicon around SEMA next year, and maybe get Christo and some others along, as i would love to be there, and I could make it to Surf and Turf hopefully as well.

The Rubicon was snowed in when we were over in 2002, so we missed out then, and its still a life experience box I want to tick.

Just a thought, as I plan out next year, Christo meantioned I should of made it this year, but I have started planning to be there next year.

Even been pricing bringing my own truck over, [or a TD model, and leave it in the hands of someone over there, help pay for the trip :D ]

Running the Rubicon Trail in early November you will risk being snowed in. I've known people who have had snow as early as mid-October.

Darren,
Sounds like a plan in the making! When is SEMA '07? Oooooo...maybe by then you and Christo will have the A-arm/front lift figured out for the 100's and we can do a group install when you're here :bounce:

Sounds like I will need to bring my ideas bag, and my tool box as well

Glad you said it! Another way to help underwrite your trip ;)

Get ahold of Jay...I think he has all the separate parts and pieces figured out. For me it was just easier, albeit a couple bucks more, to get the install kit from Christo.
