from the rear doors back and on the inner panels it's all sprayed over stick on insulation - hopefully it sticks ok and seals the inner wheel on the inside.

And on to the roof for a little sound deadening. It's foam, a layer of rubber sort of like the peal and stick dynamat stuff, then a thicker layer of foam, then a covering of aluminum. It's really quite heavy, and definately have to spray glue on both sides to get it to stick. 1 step closer to headliner time, if only I hadn't broken the wind sheild pulling it out!

oh ya', don't leave the razor blade on the floor while putting up the headliner.... And a little color change while fixing a few rust spots on the windshield frame - bad shaddows...

Made some progress on headliner. The 1" of foam on the roof was really too much. The bows hit it when rotating them into place, so I really had to push them in. Still need some more clips for the headliner, I guess I didn't grab them all when I pulled it out or lost some, or am just using more of them per inch than what came out.

I'll say this, if I never have to do another one of these I'll be happy. The newer style w/ the full pannel and more trim pieces has got to be easier than this.

hope you wired stereo speaker and power wires to the rear.....

I was thinking might be a great time to add an extra power source ie: cig lighter or 2, power converter wires, something like that.

Ah, down below. I was worried that there was something else up above under the headliner - like the speaker wires.

I have the speakers, but I'm not sure I'm going to use them. The Lexus didn't have them origonally, and I've heard the quality of them isn't great - not that the rest of my stock sound system is in all that great of shape either. I don't think I'm going to bother putting the factory sub back in. I have the bracket to put one in the rear if I want, and the new panels that I got from the older LC has the grill for them I believe.

If I use the Lexus center console (mine cleaned up reasonably well) I'm thinking I might replace the CD changer that I never use with a power inverter I have.

I might run power to the speaker grills and mount a couple of these in there place. Either wire them to come on when I open the rear gate or just leave them w/ the rocker.

The Armaflex is a closed cell phone, which is ideal for accoustic de-coupling. Do you have access to the ArmaSound 2mm? The Arma Sound is a type of mass loaded vinyl, which is used to reduce sound transmission. These products layered on top of some accoustic damping mat (like second skin, Dynamat, etc.) would give our rigs tomb like silence.

You certainly have my attention Mr. I can get armaflex. We would not want you to get into trouble, but keep us up to date please on some about 1/4 of an inch thick or a little under.

What do you mean by closed cell phone?

I can get some thin sheeting tomorrow if you wanted it soon, i can't get in trouble, my dad owns the place...

no worries, I'll just have to get some Armaflex from ya' to make it thread relative :)

Finally have the body all sealed up again - aka - the windshield and rear windows are in. First time since it started the PS window has been in.

Looking good, sir!

Thanks, The headliner isn't perfectly smooth, but it's good enough that I'll never notice it once everything else is in. I'm sure some people will, and they're more than welcome to try and put one of those buggers in themselves!

Still alot of little stuff to do -

Have to put on the new rear doors

Front door panels

Carpet

Seat belts

Trim panels

OS Handles

Seats

Drill for the rear flares

Re-coat flare openings and rear doors w/ bedliner

Then onto the non-fire related stuff, like fixing my muffler mounts and the rear bumper mounts (one of the nuts spun in the frame taking it off), and the last big challenge of cutting the PS front fender.

I'm hoping the weather and the wife's work schedule work out such that I can get the rest of the interior back in this upcoming weekend. That and the muffler / bumper fix, and I should be out wheeling again - Hopefully the last week of the year.

It feels good to have it all buttoned back up at least. I hated having it w/ a tarp on it for a couple weeks while the windshield was out and I was doing the headliner. Looks bad in the driveway - more white trashy than normal to have it tarped.

Tried opening up the sunroof the other day to find my batteries are dead. I'm hoping that's just from sitting for months without being driven and not a sign that I've developed an electrical issue.

So far I've been lucky in that we haven't been hit with any snow or ice yet, cause as much as I like the Passat, I like my cruiser better for that kind of driving.

Gonna be nice to get back to finishing skid plate, reworking sliders, adding a swing out, putting a torsion bar rear swaybar on - you know, the fun stuff that you get to do rather than have to do.

In the spring, when it gets warm, it gets a new paint scheme - the rest gets the Olive Drab treatment like I've done on the windshield.... At that point, the whtie trash lexus also gets a name change....
