I completely understand why you are thinking of selling the 80... I have been very close to selling mine many times for various reasons. As long as we don't loose you on this forum, you need to do what is best for you and your family. With that being said, I think you need to listen to your brother! If you sell this rig, you will regret it... And eventually you will buy another one.

I hope you are able to get what you want for it.

I personally think 80's are nightmare project rigs, because you can't fix the biggest thing that ails this beast: size and weight. And that means your project mods are really trail mods, whether it is sheet metal damage, axle carnage, etc.

Yes...you can swap in a V8 and upgrade to custom D60's and replace the transmission and bolt up a case with low gears...but you could do that on a Runner as well without the size, weight, and suspension limitations. What I love about my 80 is that I don't have to work on it and all it needed was a lift, gears, tires, and some sliders and tube armor. It's not much fun to run with the buggy crowd in this kind of rig. It's great fun to run with the SUV crowd, because you are king.

It sounds like you are re-working your priorities with life changes - I hope you can care for those needs without too much stress around your 80. Trucks can always be acquired...
