I wanted to take the little white truck to Whipsaw during the summer. The back route to the Loadstone would be okay
It's a time thing that's stopping me from going.
I finally fixed my FJ40's exhaust system even though I didn't put the headers on like I wanted. My stubborness was overcome by brain cell damage from the exhaust

Never been in the traditional loop, and I really enjoyed it!

If any one could put their pictures on disk for me I would really appreciate it. I couldn't take my camera on the trip. I am not sure if I will be at the meeting on Thursday, but I will be at Cruiser Days. I had a great time as always on the Whipsaw. Great trail, great people.

Whipsaw Trip August 3-6, 2007

This year’s Whipsaw trip was a success in every way: no injuries or serious vehicle breakdowns, good turnout, favorable weather, and good road conditions.
Coastal Cruisers present for Whipsaw: Garry B, Gary T and nephew Geordie, Craig E, Aaron K and father Walter, Phil S with family Angelica, Andrea, and Mya, Mike N, Drew E and trusty companion Winston, Greg VanT, Justin VanH, Martin S, Rob Millson & partner Gail, Bill W and grandson Shikai.
Guests included GlennBJ74 from Victoria, Greg B, Petra N and son Clayton, Shane & Sue D and daughter from Kellowna.
First ones to arrive on Thursday, August 2, were Phil and family to claim campsites at Lodestone Lake. The weather was cool with sunny breaks. Friday morning Arron, Gary T, Bill, Craig and Glen rendezvoused at Ricky’s in Chilliwack and headed up the Hope-Princeton highway, took a break to view gophers at Manning Park, and headed on to Whipsaw Creek FSR. Craig headed for Coalmont while the rest of us entered Whipsaw. The road was pretty dusty with no commercial traffic coming out. We looked over the old mine core site and camped at Cruiser Lake by the old cabin and grave. The wind was cold and it went down to near freezing Friday night but we had a hearty bonfire and it felt great to get out into the wilderness.
Saturday morning after a slow start we headed on toward Wells Lake, winding through the gorgeous alpine meadows with wildflowers in full bloom including Indian Paintbrush, Mountain Daisy, Heliotrope, and Western Anemone. The road was pretty dry with no serious mud holes. We arrived at Wells Lake just in time to claim the best campsites and watch the entertainment when one of the Heinz 57 Ford pickups got bogged down in the usual hole beside the campsite. The Suzuki boys also arrived, after rolling one of their trucks, and camped further down the lake. The mosquitoes were not too bad there this year and the fish were jumping. Eventually Greg V and Justin, Greg B, Petra and Clayton, Rob M and Gail arrived and Gail caught a trout.
The Princeton Redneck Good Ole Boys were true to their reputation with revving 360 Fords, shotgun blasts and yahooing but they actually turned in early, much to our surprise: maybe they’re getting older! We answered their shotgun blasts with our bear bangers of course. Drew arrived with his trailer and new dog cage that fits under his tent trailer. That sure is a great rig he has put together.
Sunday morning we headed up Falcon Hill in two separate groups, and it was not too bad getting up for most of the Cruisers. Aaron, with open diffs winched himself over the most difficult part, and so did Drew when the trailer held him back. We were passed on the trail by a group of Toyota and Nissan pickups, then later again by the Princeton Boys in their domestics. We figured they would beat us to Loadstone but to our surprise they stopped to play and we got the best campsites once again. EnRoute to Loadstone we encountered a bike and quad deep in the deep mud hole. The day before, Craig had got stuck in that mud hole, almost tipped over, and was pulled out by a Land Rover (Oh the shame of it!). Then Phil winched out some poor Suzuki too. On Sunday we modified the approach to the big mud hole and made it through OK. The funniest moment was when Winston dived into the mud hole and swam around in it. We carried on to Loadstone where they had had hail in the afternoon. Lots of boats and locals around the lake, combined with the usual Johnny Cash and Credence music blasting over the lake. Gary T supplied some entertainment when he let off Roman Candles fireworks from across the lake. We had a good campfire and great last night of the holiday.
Monday morning, one by one, the vehicles headed out, past the quiet Coalmont Mine, Coalmont Town, and hung-overed Tulamine, bringing to a close another successful Whipsaw weekend. I know we go there every year, but damn it, it’s the best.
I will post a few pics when I get the film developed.

So when did Greg_B get relegated to "guest" status?

Well Rob M didn't even make the Guest list. I think it's a combination of too many people and Bill W forgeting.;p

M...as in the fabled 'Why I hate the Whipsaw' Rob 'why walk when you can CRAWL' Mullen ?

So when did Greg_B get relegated to "guest" status?

Hey hey...Since I've been tardy with my CC dues. I am however a paid up TLCA member, and member of the 4WDABC...

And that would be Rob Millson and Gail, re the Rob M.

Another pic to whet the whistle...

It sounds like you all had a good time, I will be checking out the pics as soon as I have time. So let me get this straight - Craig was stuck in a mud hole, the same Craig that has a ...... well we don't have to get into that ..... , the same Craig that always boasted he has never been on the receiving end of a tow strap. Hmmmm, interesting. So has the trail gotten worse since last year?
Sorry I missed it but at least I am going to Cruiser Days and shutting my phone off for the weekend!

I goaded Craig into trying to find a way through. One of the spots I chose for him (nice of me wasn't it) was quite off camber. He kinda slipped into a big hole, but only half way. My buddy Shane was standing on his slider to keep him from going over. I'm sure I will have pics eventually.

Hey Mat, lets get this right; I said I've never been on the end of a winch line. Tug strap, yes, twice (both times Phil). Now I've been winched, fisrt try by Phil (thanks) and finaly by a Rover. Then Phil had to winch the Rover up a hill. Like Phil, I'm waiting to hear from Shane and Sue about the pics, should be interesting.

On the ride home, I found out my steering is a little tweeked and got vibration around Hope. Pulled into Chilliwack around 10:30pm just in time to find out my CV joint in the rear driveshaft was going. Limped it home on the freeway in front wheel drive. Locker and tweeked steering made for an interesting (and slow) ride.

Just a note: None of the "stuck" was Phils fault, if I didn't want to do it, I wouldn't have. He was convincing though. ;)

Another note: Also in the Loadstone crew was Grant and Cali. They brought a couple of built Runners. They had to leave early due to baby problems.

Great time

Thanks to Gary T for being lead trail meister. I look forward for the next trip, with a great bunch of guys (and gals) -

I just got my TLCA membership today #17759
