I am looking to put a drawer system in the back of my 80 series and, before I drop the huge sum of money, I would love to hear some feedback on which are the better systems.

So far I have seen Slee's Outback system and MAF's roller system.

Any comparisons on those or any others I am missing?

All help is greatly appreciated.

Just FYI, added some less expensive drawer options to the product line as well.

My $.02 is to choose/build a lightweight option. As we add mods and equipment the weight just starts to add up...I pulled my beautiful wood drawers from my rig (too heavy) and now I'm looking at the galvanized roller drawers, yes they're expensive but so are fridges, winches and our rigs.

Christo...is the only difference between the two Outback drawer systems a single drawer vs two independent drawers?

I went through the same dilemma over a year ago. I could have built a nice set myself...wood or metal...but with all the other mods I have done (a couple more small ones to get done yet) it was either time spent building drawers or...you know the drill. So I anti'd up for the African Outback drawers from Christo and all I have to say after almost a year and a half of using them extensively I would make the same decision again...and again! They don't rattle; the're tough; hold more weight than necessary; blah blah blah. Again: If you get the AO drawers (I can't speak for the new lower priced version) YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT...PERIOD!

FYI: To prevent future time consuming headaches...install all the outlets, fuse boxes, wires, etc. in the back BEFORE you put the drawers in...go ahead: Ask me how I know this one!!!

There is a section in the 80's Tech FAQ. Go check it out as it shows alot of different options and from it you can see what users threads you might want to search. I for one am kinda biased I have Christo's system and agree 100% with the above poster. It is totally worth the money and one of the best mods on my truck.

That storagemax unit looks nice for the the price.
How are the slides when loaded.

Skillet,

Check your pms. I had Jeff K. build mine and I am very pleased with the service and the product. I don't like the plastic look. My system is built out of mahogony plywood.

The price was $270 shipped from Summit when it was clearanced. It is worth that price but I wouldn't have paid more. The unit is cheap, but it doesn't make any funny noises and the slides work ok, even when loaded.

Hey Gman.....who is JeffK.????

Jeff Kaufman. He built Grouseman's as well as mine...and those a few other members here are rolling with.

a great drawer system, but I don't think he's making them anymore.
you might be able to talk him into making a set for you, but I don't think he wants to deal with shipping them anymore. Well...at least that's what he told me the last time we talked. You'd have to pick them up in Napa...but then again, there are worse places to end up on a road trip. :D

I'm very pleased with mine. My only regret is only getting half at the time...now I'm gonna need to sweet talk him into making the other half for me...if he has time...
