Jeff Kaufman. He built Grouseman's as well as mine...and those a few other members here are rolling with.

a great drawer system, but I don't think he's making them anymore.
you might be able to talk him into making a set for you, but I don't think he wants to deal with shipping them anymore. Well...at least that's what he told me the last time we talked. You'd have to pick them up in Napa...but then again, there are worse places to end up on a road trip. :D

I'm very pleased with mine. My only regret is only getting half at the time...now I'm gonna need to sweet talk him into making the other half for me...if he has time...

Doug,

You only bought half of a system? Man you messed up.:)

I don't know why Christo doesn't put it on the page.

I have a set of AO drawers in the back of my Taco, they were made for a Hilux. I like them. They are quiet and allow me to carry a bunch of equipment and still have a truck bed. I think they are too much $$$ but after adding up all the time I'd spend putting my own set together the $$$ makes sense.

I remember Jeff K....he built those sweet wood drawer sytems..just wanted to verify he was the same guy and i was hoping he was building them again ....last I had heard he had stopped so when you posted I say a ray of sunshine but sounds like I missed out....I would have gotten them for my 60 but it was not drivable at the time :-( so now way to pick them up

Hi Grouseman
How much do you think your drawers weigh?
They look very heavy duty.
Thanks

CPG,

I'm not sure of the weight. I would have to check with Jeff K. The slide system he incorporated is great. I could put 80-100 pounds of stuff in one drawer and it would still slide easily.

With regards to drawers:
What happens whilst on a cambered section of trail or going up/down hill? Soft shoulder of a road? This was my biggest fear of drawers... will they stay put?
Has a system addressed this?

LS,

It would not be an issue with my system. There are heavy duty latches on the system. Even has locks. I have seen a bunch of systems and Jeff's is by the best for performance and appearance. I don't like the Plastic look.

My AO drawers don't budge in any direction when they are closed.

I wasn't meaning closed i was meaning open. Is it not hard to open/close them when say your on an obstacle where you need your snatch block and it's in the drawer. Especially when you have 100lbs in a drawer

Well I access my drawers (no comments from the peanut gallery please  ) all the time when the rig is on all types of slopes. The only one that can be a challenge is when the nose of the rig is pointed steeply down hill...but it's just an inconvenience not an obstacle so to speak. And when the rear is down at an angle you just have to push a little harder to get the drawer rolled back in. And if either the PS or DS is leaning (what I would refer to as off-camber) the AO drawers open and close perfectly because of their HD ball bearing construction and zero flex in the drawer and frame assembly.

Hope that helps ya.

Sure, it would be harder to access, but 99% of the time, it would be stored better.

Personally, I usually tie my recovery bag down on the floor of the middle row, which I can reach from the driver seat if needed.

Whereas all my tools and other heavy gear is stored in the drawers. I actually carry most of my stuff, minus camping gear, all the time now.

Here's the previous thread about drawer systems.

There are several pics of mine and of what Jeff made. I should stress MADE. I don't known if he's making them again and I'd be willing to bet that if he did make them again, assuming he has the time, he wouldn't make customizations. Special requests and customizations took up a lot of his time.
