Here the process I used to remove the hitch. Ground the welds across the back. Used a Sawzal to cut the 1/2" X 2" solid bar that ran between the main frame rails. Tried using a grinding but with the hitch there they just wasn't room. Used a floor jack to lift front of the hitch lowering the back.

Just for fun I went ahead and weighted the hitch. A couple of pounds short of seventy-five pounds. With what I ground and cut off added to the pieces I still need to remove it has to be close to seventy-five pounds. That is a record for me. Wish I would have asked the PO if he had it added or it was there from it's time on the ranch. Surprised allthe original running dear is still there. Only mod was a Rodchester carburator.

Checking out the rear sill I planned to use I found the trailer light socket doesn't match the holes on the bottom of this sill. Will also have to be way outboard to clear the factory rear step. May end using another sill that I have to have more holes filled and drill news holes and use this one on my early since it has enough of the side frame to replace the rust part on that cruiser.

There use to be link I saved to the 61 sale brocure that had the sulfur yellow soft top. Had some good pictures of the back. My link is dead anyone had a link to that? Would be interested where the right location for the trailer light socket. The trailer light socket is the same the US military used. The bolts are SAE and use 7/16".

Real close. Mine is only bolted on with a single bolt and and is just a litte further out. Where the one is located on Annie would interfere with the rear step. Not a issue with a tailgate since those didn't have rear steps. Both my early FJ40 hard top and my early FJ40 soft top tub have barn doors. I see you don't have fixed nuts for the rear step. Which make sense with a tailgate.

Don't know how this one survived but it was never touched. Soft top 25 same as Annie though, I'll look for the brochure.

The 61 brochure didn't have a good shot of the back the 62 review is the best I could find. Only problem, no rear step with barn doors. Toyota.

Do you still have this 25? Or was it parted out? Still have the trailer socket?

Saved the bracket for my "restoration" someday. Scored a new surplus socket and trailer plug. Same as US just like you said. If I still have the crusty original socket your welcome to it.

Sent from my issued piece of crap BlackBerry 9650

Wasn't sure if that was the socket and bracket you sent me a few years back. It straightened up pretty nice just like the spare tire carrier I got from you. Picked up some new sockets years ago. First one pictured is off the grey 25. Also got a couple of 6' pigtail that have the plugs on both ends.

 I don't remember anymore. That tire carrier straightened pretty good though. :)

I believe the WW2 trailer setup had a socket on both the trailer and vehicle with a 6' lead and two male plugs. At least that's the way I got the package, cut it in the middle and I think Dean got the other half.
