I didn't think Alu-Cab made a top for an 80. They don't seem to show one on their site.

They don't.. I made a custom adapter and converted a Gen3 Expedition so its much like the Hercules and Icarus models they make.
I am looking into making it a kit, as a few guys want to do the same conversion as well. Look for my vendor status and website in the near future!

One thing of note, I was looking at your sig line and noticed Old North State Cruisers.
My 80 has one of those stickers on the back hatch glass!
Always thought it was cool so I left it there after I bought it.

Yes, I did a 3/4 cut and left the sunroof access intact. I originally was going to go with a CampTeq but I decided (for personal reasons) that I would use an Alu-Cab ( the pioneers of this conversion on Land Cruiser and Land Rover platforms, with Andrew St Pierre White's concept and design ) and did it for half the cost.. more room, sunroof access and proven Alu-Cab quality! The best part is I got to design it myself. In fact I can't say enough good things about Alu-Cab as they are standing behind my conversion and are even sending me a Shower Cube (warranty item) to attach to the passenger side for my shower system.

This is actually where I got my inspiration from. really cool build!

Cool. Can you post pics of your conversion to directly mount the Alu-Cab?

Apologizing ahead of time -- probably wrong section but wondering if anyone has tried one of these? seem super portable and lightweight and easier to pack than traditional fire bowls or grates:

Okay, actually weekend before last now. This last weekend we left the '80 and home and took the 4Runner to the ferry to take the bikes to the other side of Kachemak bay. Anyway. the pics are from a couple of weeks ago when I took some friends out for their first off road trip in the "new" FJ60 and a couple of trips out between the icebergs. 20 miles from the trailhead to the ice and then toss the pack rafts in the lake. :)

Annual backpacking trip in the Wind’s WY. Rutty 4wd trail climbs above 10k, then just a mile or so of walking to a cluster of lakes, great fishing, climbing, much needed solitude...

16-year-old at the wheel. Not quite as frightening as when he was 8... not quite.

So after a cold few days in Sydney Oz, forecasts for snow down to 500m (extremely rare), and photos of snow on one of our job sites in the mountains west of Sydney (extremely rare), I went on an impromptu overnight camping trip with my son.
4hrs drive to The Brindabella Ranges (a sub alpine mountain area).

Arrived after dark. Snow falling at about 700m and 12" of snow already on the ground (extremely rare).

Woke to snow falling on my hammock fly, and 8" of fresh snow overnight.

Spent the morning driving untracked snow 1-2 feet deep.

That is crazy... seeing the trees with all their leaves still on under the snow. Have fun down there. (This makes me excited for fall around the corner)

Yeah, it's definitely a different winter landscape then you guys get.
Even in our alpine area, we have only Snowgums whichall keep their leaves during winter. No native deciduous trees at all in Oz.

Yeah, it reminds me of when we get a late spring snow. It looks beautiful over there. I love the pictures of the shelter and fire in the snow.

Sleeping in a hammock with trees coming down all around you. Eek!
