Where are you carrying your H20 for camping?

I normally carry a seven gallon blue can in the rig, and it takes up gobs of space.
I have wanted jerrycans for quite awhile now on my rig, and today I did the deed.
You can read how I came about this in my build thread here.
A few mods from 7-25-06

So are you carrying your water in the rig, or outside of the rig?

Just discovered these spare tire racks. Opens up more capacity for my rear bumper.
Vector Offroad

I should now be able to hold 15gal fuel, 4 gal water and a 11lb propane tank.
Confident the Slee rear can easily support this setup

Trying to determine if I can use one rack across the 3 cruisers 33"-37" tire spectrums

Last trip, as block ice in 5+ day ice chests, and a couple jerry cans for wash water.

I like soft bladders, very space efficient typically.
And also disposable frozen water bottles in the fridge or cooler.
Also doing outside containers to warm up the water when sunny.

Pair of scepter water cans and a msr filter pump. In the rear of the cruiser right now, although eventually want them and a gas can outside on a bumper

So I hate carrying 5gal+ water containers. Way too heavy and inconvenient to move around and use. Most of the time, I'll buy 5-10 1 gallon water bottles at the grocery store. They are about $0.88 each. Then stash them all around the vehicle. Sometimes I'll supplement with a 5 gallon Sceptor container, but transfer that into the 1 gallons as needed.

Custom water bladder that sits on the floor and over the top is a box that the fridge etc sits on. Bladder holds about 70l full. Gravity fed out so I can fill 1 gallon/cooking containers etc. 12V submersible pump to fill it from rain water tanks etc while out bush.

Weight is nice and low in the vehicle, easy to fill/dispense and takes minimal room versus a bunch of 20l containers. Carrying containers and lifting up/down is something that has grown old (as have I...).

Years ago I had a approx 60L container on the roof - tap to dispense and hose/pump/funnel to fill. I like the bladder a LOT more.

cheers,
george.

I've considered one of those footwell models for the LandCruiser and an upright model for the Tacoma. You like yours?

I love it!! It's out of the way. It holds 9+ gallons, easy to get in and out of the truck, I can't hear the water slosh around, easy to refill, and I can stack stuff on top of it and still get the water out.

I use 5 gal jerry can for bulk water, and one gallon Crytstal Geyser containers (nice square sides for packing in a milk grate).

So I use the one gallon jugs and and bike water bottles for during the day, then use the jerry to re-fill everything the next morning as I am packing everything.

Once I get the camp shower, I'll be needing to buy some more jerry's lol

It is often possible to see the level of a fluid in an "opaque" container from the outside with a strong enough flashlight.

I sorry no pic but I carry a 5 gallon scepter water can behind my fridge. It sandwiches nicely between that and the middle row seat but is also strapped down for safety. It has the Living Overland faucet kit installed and access is through the side sliding window. 12-volt water system - Scepter installation ~ Living Overland. If I need more than 5 gallons extra can/s go on the roof ahead of the RTT.

I carry a water filter so places where water is available I can make more drinking water. Gravity feed water filter. Base Camp Pro 10L I can hang it from the roof rack and feed directly in the water can through the window. This can also double as a shower.
