One of my projects - or a place for extensive projects:

Linda and I picked up a foreclosure near Calhan this last month. The house is a single wide modular/trailer depending on your definition. Its a 12x75 in pretty good condition. It is said to have plumbing problems, so will tackle that after the freeze season is over. What it really has is a 28x48 shop with a 12' interior space. Its huge! I can park the boat, the '78 F250, the '58 Chevy 3100 as well as the Dodge, and still have room left over to work on "Old Rusty White", my FJ40. Some in the family are saying I bought it for the garage. Well Maybe. But it does have a large backyard too. 2 major problems to get this usable, the doors are sliders, and the moveable one is off the track, and the other bigger problem, someone hacked the power box out of the wall, so will need to tend to that.

Fun stuff.

Sooooooooooo jealous of that garage! Congrats.

New tires, new APRS, rooftop tent, I'm guessing you've decided to keep the 80 huh?

Keeping it at least for a while. All that stuff is transferable to another rig, that is by design. I have been running APRS for about a year, just got the GPS that could display other stations.

Lets see...over the past week...tailgate and tire carrier are lined up, working, attached and finished. That included weather stripping the tailgate and cutting gaskets, bolting it on, and making sure the latches work. All is good there. Also...driver side fender is on...along with the turn signal. Also got the driver side apron mocked up to see how it looks and lines up...looks good! Also got all the radiator and heater hoses installed and run. I got the heater blower box stripped, cowl cushion stripped and weather strip ideas in my head, brake lines run, 4WD switch and lines all run and installed. Also ordered all the parts to get the hood on, windshield frame installed along with the windshield and radiator.

Well I am not as busy as chyle that's for sure. I lost a few bolts to my skids apparently on phantom canyon and just replaces those and put a little lock tite on for good measure. I also tightened the rest down to be thorough. I then lubed my upper a arms and installed my 2012 summit badge that has been sitting on the dash for almost 2 years. I had to take the the grill off and the bolts that came with were of course to short so I had to find my own. I then cleaned up and oiled my air filter so I can breath a little easier. My next task will be to pull off the sliders and wire brush them down and repaint them as well as a little touch up on the skids. I would like to regear it as well but not sure if it's in the budget yet.

This past summer I had starter problems which I solved by swapping in a starter from a part-out. That starter has started giving me issues in the past few weeks now as well. Not often, but getting worse. So yesterday I changed the starter contacts & plunger in my original starter and swapped it back in. Contacts were definitely worn hard - hopefully this solves it. It's an incredibly easy job ... once the starter is out, which is kind of a PITA. Hate messing around with such a critical part just before a big trip, but not thrilled with being stuck in the middle of New Mexico wilderness either. So will drive it all week and see if it behaves - 10 starts so far with no problems.

Also have nearly completed the rack for my trailer to carry the roof top tent ... pics soon.

I got the chance to see Kyle's 40 in person yesterday. She's a beauty! Can't wait to see her in action (probably on a nice wide, brush free trail :)).

p.s. me no likey the new smilies... :(

I ended up installing some new icon coil overs and spacers in the front as well as putting on some used tube doors I got for cheap today. I was going to have justin maybe fab up the tube doors for me but I came across these for not very much and couldn't resist. Now all I need is the rear shocks to show up as well as some new door latches for the old tube doors. I got the old latches to work pretty good but I want them to work great for the wife and kids. I also got some mesh on the way for the doors so the kids won't fall out. My father in law thought that might be a good idea.

I LOVE my tube doors. I ran them last weekend again. Wife froze her ass off so we headed home. I'm curious what direction you went with for the latches. The original MT ones are junk and I really want to switch them out. Also, my buddy Charlie is working on fabn' up some panels for the tube doors to keep the mud out of the rig. I'll let you know what he comes up with. I'd also like to figure out a way for removable windows. Then, I'd run tube doors year round.

I missed this post in the crappy new system. Matt, love the tube doors! That looks great. Does the FJ have a big wiring harness to the door? I was thinking about making tube doors for the cherokee, but all the power window controls are on the drivers door, hence, a big wiring harness.
