One last question....Do you think that dash pad from my original post is grey or blue? It sort of looks blue to me but someone has suggested to me that there were no blue interiors before 89.

It looks gray to me, but sometimes colors get modified by the camera or the display.
I'm sure there were blue interiors prior to '89, I've seen many of them. The on-line parts lookup lists gray, blue, and brown/tan, and red as choices. I also parted out an '85 longbed several years ago that had a blue interior, as did the '87 turbo truck that I parted out 2 years ago:

What was sad about the turbo truck was that I couldn't even GIVE away that interior, I had to throw it all away.
Another oddity: my old '84 xcab had a gray interior (I'm still using the SR5 seats), and I kept pretty much everything. What was odd was the main plastic instrument panel (the largest piece that goes all the way across the cab) is actually made out of blue plastic, but it's been spray-painted gray, presumably at the factory. I still have it.

OK just in case someone reads this thread looking for a definitive answer. I've done a bit more research and this pad is interchangable with 1987-88 pickups and 1987-89 4Runners.
The earlier pickups and 4Runners, 1984-1986, had the longer storage tray indention and the later ones, like this one, had the shorter tray. If you can get the matching cluster surround pad then this dash will fit in the earlier years as well (and visa versa).
Also, after comparing the dash to quite a few others online, I am pretty positive that it is blue.
