Is that original paint?

What’s the history ?

It is the original paint but maybe someone else can chime in and tell what the official color is. I believe it is Lilly White for a 66. There are different shades of Lily White for different years.

I love the patina but I am going to paint it the original color.

While the frame was off getting blasted, I started on the transfer case. I had it bead blasted and couldn't of been happier with the way it turned out. With all new bearings and a gasket kit, I got it put back together. I took the transmission into a shop and had that redone too.

I got around to what was the demise of the 45. Stripped the rear axle down and it received all new hardware.

When I got the frame back I was super impressed. They didn't miss a single spot with the powder coat.

The leaf springs on the 45 were shot, so I bought new OME springs, shackles and pins.

Couple questions on the frame powder coating. How is the inside of the frame? Was it blasted clean and how is the coating on the inside?

The frame was blasted down to clean metal and then was powder coated. I was a little skeptical of having good coverage but they managed to get powder in every nook and cranny of the frame. I looked down each channel and expecting to see some bare spots but they didn't miss a spot. I was very pleased with the way out it came out. Not a good picture but you can kind of see in the frame.:meh:

Thanks for the extra info. I guess when the frame is electrically charged the powder will float to the inside of the frame just like the outside.

I wasn't excited about using OME springs or the BRIGHT yellow bushings. In fact that is why I haven't decided on shocks yet.

Originally I was going to paint them but the final verdict is not in.

I'm having the same dilemma. If I didn't already have the OME shocks (bought a suspension kit) I'd go with Bilstein shocks... I still might.

After cleaning up my drive shafts I noticed they are stamped with matching dots to keep it lined up properly. Does Toyota still do this and I have never noticed or maybe I just haven't cleaned them enough.

Great attention to detail. How are you cleaning your Parts? E.g. carb etc?

I have tried about every process for cleaning and removing rust. It has been sand blasted, bead blasted, electronic rust removal, Evaporust, muratic acid, and some others.

Evaporust works good and helps remove some grease. I like using it because it is not toxic and you can put your hands in it. It will however swell up rubber parts and remove the dichromate finish on zinc.

For the carb I used Evaporust on the bottom part and a hot bath with Simple Green on the other parts and a lot of scrubing. I have also been testing my hand at plating with the dichromate finish.
