what to do 4 a saggy rear end

k i have an 86 runner and im wondering what to do,some say add leafs others say add blocks,is there a leaf spring swap off another type truck that would bolt right up and lift it:hhmm: im so confused,,lol
thanks

My son went thru this with his '89. Longer shackles didn't help with the terrible ride, and AAL's only made it worse. He ended up getting a set of 2" Downey springs. Then the engine blew up. They're sitting in my basement now, waiting to get installed on his '87.

2" longer than stock shackles will raise it up the cheapest. It may be tough to get the old spring bolt out of the bushing without destroying it so plan on some bushings too.

You replace the 2 shackles in back with longer ones.

The torsion bars adjust with a vertical bolt at the rear mount of the bar. Follow the bar back to where it mounts on the frame, and find the big bolt. Best to let the pressure of of the bar before adjusting, by supporting the truck by the frame with the tire off of the ground, not by supporting it under the front A arm.

Best cheap rear lift I ever saw was the 63" chevy swap. And that is dirt cheap.

The pick ups and 4Runners have the same springs, but the Runners have more weight. Thus the sag. You said you are going to lift it. When? If very soon, don't worry about it and buy a kit with new rear springs. I bought 3" Downey's. Then I bought a 4" IFS lift. So I am adding 2" TG shackles.

As a side note on another forum I have heard of great success with adding Mazda springs to the Toy pack for a Very flexy hybrid spring pack. Good luck.
