Good Morning Folks,
I have not had much interest in this Pig:

https://forum.ih8mud.com/fj55-classifieds-corner/241624-1979-fj55-piggup-sale-virginia.html

What do you recommend I should do?
Should I part out the A/C, Power Steering, and the Jim C. buit carb? Ugh...
Should I Flea-bay it?
Should I add a roll bar and bikini top to add more interest (and higher price)?
The Pig runs great, shifts great, and the steering is oh-so-smooth. I hate to part this thing out.

Thanks in advance for any advice...

Throw the body on a full size Blazer frame

I would put at least a partial cage in it before I drove it anywhere or even tried to sell it. If you aren't getting much interest, which I don't think anyone is currently, I would put a rear hoop in it like in a 40, maybe at the B or C pillar, and a bikini top but how much would that raise your price?

What I would do is yank the A/C and PS with brackets. Put the manual PS back in it and source a duct for the blower motor cheap. Then sell the 55 on e-bay with a 500 reserve and get it out of there. Sell the A/C for 500. Make sure you include all the mounts and lines and all equipment including bolts. Take a lot of pics and mark everything. Sell the P/S for 300-500 with everything.

You will have to buy some mounts for the stock manual stuff but it will be cheap. The P/S and A/C stuff should sell quick. The 55 in this kind of market could take a while but if will happen.

I think Marshall has a good idea! I'll take the power steering box off your hands if it is OEM and send you a manual box, freshly rebuilt!

Thanks for all of your replies. Although it would be most logical to part out the good stuff, for some reason I am having a hard time parting out a Pig that came with PS / AC STOCK! The roll bar votes have won over for the moment until I look into what that would take from a $$$ standpoint. Most importantly I want to see this Pig go to someone who will enjoy it.

I took it out today for about an hour, and it drives so nicely with the power steering :steer:.

Thanks for all of the good ideas, and I'll let you know how the roll bar thing goes.
Cheers,
Chuck

You don't want to keep it?

I would love to keep this truck, but I have 5 trucks (3 projects). I have this truck where I wanted to get it, except for the roll cage. It's fun to drive and definitely turns heads.

I got a guy in TN that will probably give you $1000 for it... Don't know if that helps or not

$1000 is a little lower than I had in mind at this time, but I will keep it on the backburner. Thanks,
Chuck

I am very interested in the AC if you decide to let it go........IMO not much need for one if it is an open rock crawler......could sure use one to keep the:princess: happy TIA

I'm one that played around with the idea of buying this rig, but it turned out that it's just not the right time now (read: :princess: ) for me to add another cruiser. But from a general buyer's standpoint, I think leaving the ps and ac plus getting a decent roll bar or even a cage is the way to go. That's the first thing any buyer is going to need to do anyway, so it should be somewhat easier to sell.

Thanks for the encouragement. I will get a full cage in it, as that was my original intent. I'll try to post pics of the progress. I have tweaked my back recently. So, it won't be in the real near future.
Chuck

I agree, a cage would turn it from bland (you know what i mean, im not putting it down) to badass in .2, probably so badass you will end up keeping it :grinpimp:

I can't see how taking the A/C out of a topless rig is going to hurt sales prospects. Heck the buyer certainly won't be using it!! You can probably make a few dollars on it and not even hurt the value of the rig otherwise.
