What seats are you going with @tacosupreme?

Probably Corbeau Baja RS, but I'm not sure yet. It's still a couple of paychecks away for me anyhow.

Well for me I won't be paying this cash for new seats. I would however, love to find a low mileage seat at a junk yard. Subbie might be a nice solution.

Has anybody used the Wedge brackets for anything other than Recaro seats? I'm wondering if they can be easily adapted to work with some sort of better OEM seat option. Hard to tell from their website. They list different seat options for new aftermarket seats, but I don't know what you'd have to do to adapt them to WRX seats or OEM VW Recaros or something similar.

Has anyone tried seats out of an FJ Cruiser? They have a similar looking mount from what I have noticed, so they may just bolt in.

I believe @NC LX has these brackets with Kia seats recently installed with plans to go recaro later. Ordered them as blanks and drilled his own holes.

My wife and I hated the FJ Cruiser seats and replaced with Corbeau Baja Suspension seats. The only down side of the Corbeaus was getting over the side bolster getting in and out.

I would also give FJC seats two thumbs down in the comfort department, also they are heavier than a boat anchor. Ya the side bolster thing also cause them to wear quickly. I have PRP seats in my Tacoma, and recently had to change sides with them due to wear on the piping from sliding over the edge of it. The "sport seat" might be better in that aspect.

I looked into junkyard seats. Anything that looked nice was the same cost (around $500 a pair) as new aftermarket seats. Everything affordable looked like someone died in them. The ones in the pics below are $600 a pair.

Curious, though about the durability/quality of aftermarket seats vs. OEM seats. I hear a lot of people only getting a few years out of a set of Corbeau, PRP, etc. when the OEM seats lasted 10+ years for most people. I'm sure you get what you pay for and the Recaros would last a long time and be a real upgrade, but if you are comparing lightly used OEM seats from a WRX or something similar with a cheap pair of aftermarket seats, I'm not sure cheap Corbeaus are a real upgrade.

I think that most of the heavy wear that you see on aftermarket seats are on the side bolsters. Most are taller than a stock seat and you end up getting lazy and dragging your azz over them. The Corbeaus in our FJC were 7 years old when we sold it and they were just starting to show some wear on the piping of the entry side bolsters.

Same with the PRP's in my Tacoma. 7+ years, 100,000 miles of use, and the piping was just starting to show wear. After swapping sides I expect another 100K out of them.

I had a set of forester seats for my troopie that I never got installed. They were comfortable, light, manual, and already had seat heaters. The harness for the heaters was simple and I was able to pull it with the seats.

I think they do custom too

I picked up some cloth buckets out of an Audi this morning. It took a while, but I got the drivers seat installed today.
I plan on posting the fabrication and install here soon.
But, basically, you can put any seats you want in your cruiser, if you have the tools and time.

any updates on the seats?

There's a guy on here put in some BMW manuals (E46?), took some work to make them fit (smashing stock mounts flat, for example). So if you plan to run a wider console etc., that could be an issue. Could be a neater way to fit those seats, with more secure brackets, not sure.

Here it is...
