Orijen Dog food

Hey Legion take a look at Orijen dog food. I feed Freddy Orijen puppy kibble and he loves it! He's put on 6 lbs in 3 weeks, boxers tend to grow vertically first then horizontally. The parent company is Champion and is based out of Canada. All regional ingredients 40% protein 20% fat and tons of other goodies. My vet is stoked he's on it. It's a little on the pricey side (about $65+ the gov for a 30# bag) but it's ok cause we drive Landcruisers and are accustomed to spending money.

Or you could just cook your own dog food... Chicken, rice, hot dogs, and mixed veggies... cook it up, mix together, freeze it... 1:30 in the microwave and the dawg loves it.

10 yr. old still hyper :frown: Chocolate Lab and about the same age rescued insecure  Belgian Malinois.:bang:

Dude...if I fed that to my dog it would be fart city for days on end!

From the air quality around here I'm guessing I'm feeding that to my dog already and just don't know it. That boxer can out-fart anything and anyone. Hands down.

Bad. Like 'clear the room / make the preacher swear' bad.

Yep that and snoring the boxer has beat me in both areas as my girlfriend has informed me...lol. I guess it's true about what they say about an owner and his dog.
I've been feeding Freddy Orijen for about a month and I have noticed he's not as gassy as when he was eating Natural Balance and science diet canned food. To think about it now he rarely farts.
It's hard feeding your dog a diet of cooked chicken, veggies etc..the prep time and the extra freezer space. Not to mention the potential for salmonella poisoning which will kill your dog. And the cost and proper mixture to get the ideal balance of nutrients...I've done a bit of research of the BARF (biologically approved raw food) diet but after the cost associated (barfworld.com) is way expensive. Hence Orijen and if you go with the cheap dog food from the grocery store or walmart you'll be feeding your dog twice the amount just to get the same nutrient delivery making that food go quicker...end all you'll pay the same price for a lesser quality food as use more of it. Just my .02 after about 10 hours of dog food research.

That food must be some seriously good stuff if it prevents farts. It'd be impossible to not notice them out of this dude.

We've tried the raw meat diets, etc. and been through several types of kibble. Have been feeding all three a pretty good dry food that seems to keep 'em in good shape and looks like it cuts down on shovel time some too.

We tried the Orijen on our Goldendoodle pup, and found it too rich. Either too much protein or too many veggies, gave her very soft poops, almost diahrea like. Switched her to our long time favorite, California Natural, and she has been golden (no pun intended :D) since! It too is all natural with excellent ingredients, but brown rice instead of veggies.

That site is aimed at removing the fluff and marketing from some of what you might hear from vendors. Keep in mind that some of their higher ratings go to mighty pricey feeds and just because what you're feeding doesn't make their top tier doesn't mean you're feeding bad stuff.

Generally speaking though if you're buying from your vet (like Eukanuba), their limited distribution policy is part of what you're paying for. Maybe too big of a part... you get to decide. Regardless, objective info comparing feeds is pretty tough to come by but it's the only way to determine value.

Girlfriend's Brittany pup. My dog's daughter. 10 weeks old and already wild. :D

I've always fed my dog Eukanuba...thought it was good but according to that review they say it's s***ty.

I used to also. Now I feed him Innova Evo. It's expensive s***, but there is less s*** that comes out of the dog now.

Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retiever

Tireless Retiever, great with the kids.

Goes by Desi, short for Desdemona. I always say after the Allman Brothers tune, my wife from Othello.

Nice dog - have they started to come down in price with their recent rise in popularity?
