Hi All,
I'm workiing through the FS emissions manual trying to get through CA smog. What is this component on the passenger side of the air cleaner? I can't find it in the manual or how it should be hooked up. But pretty sure it's not supposed to be hooked up like this!

It’s the control valve to regulate distributor ventilation. It isn’t an remissions component.
Normally it clips under the air cleaner housing but maybe your clips broke off - so it’s just jammed in there.

@OSS , doesn't one end of one of those vac lines go to a vent inside the cab ? i'm scouring my FSM manuals right now trying to find the routing of lines n the function of the vac switch. just trying to give @Southbound an informed answer rather than my usual "yeah, this is what i think blah blah"

found what i think is what i'm looking at in my 2f engine emission control 1981 repair manual, page 3-3. i was incorrect, none of those lines in the pics go to that vent

Make sure it’s good if smogging. Mine was the source of a vacuum leak…..
