Helping my son fix a 68 FJ40 with a 71 F Engine. There are a few things I am not sure about (the whole truck came in pieces and we got it this far). Where should these connect and what are they for. The first picture is the front passenger side of the engine. The second picture has a few things I am unsure of: On the firewall and the manifold are 2 nipples (do these connect together? If so, what is it, if not, where does each of these go? And then the carb has a piece that stick out, I think it is facing the wrong way and should face forward, but again is that right and where would this get connected (to the item in the first picture?)

Any help is appreciated.

First one is where your PCV valve goes...if the one on the carb was facing forward it might be where the PCV hose goes
the one on the firewall might take vacuum to a transfer case gizmo, in which case the fitting on the intake manifold might be the vacuum source

I think the vertical port on the intake manifold would be for vacuum for the brake booster, which a '71 has but the '68 does not. The port can probably be blocked off.

As for the port on the carb spacer: I think the spacer should be turned 180 degrees so that the port faces the front of the truck. A hose should run from that to the top of the missing PCV valve mentioned earlier by @Pighead.

Consider upgrading to a dual reservoir brake master cylinder setup if you're thinking of driving this vehicle on public roadways. There are very valid reasons that single systems are not utilized on any modern vehicle. Just friendly advice.

As pighead mentioned, that one on the passenger side of the block is for the PCV valve. Mine was routed from there to the bottom of the carburetor. It is disconnected in the picture and this is a Weber carb but the port is forward facing.

Thanks so much. I thought I knew where it went, but great to see it actually done. Thanks.
