Mobil1 Turbo Diesel 5w40. High zinc content. Extremely good protection. Synthetic. And it is readily available at all auto parts stores, and even at Walmart. We use this in anything from Land Cruisers to fully built 1200whp cars. It's a great oil.

After spending the stupid money on rebuilding my motor last year, this is the only oil that touches my LX460.

LX460. I like that.

I run Mobil 1 or Royal Purple 5w30 Period. I just strocked up on 40 qts of mobil 1 so itll be getting that for a LONG time

You think? Ok the wheels are turning...

Some of the graphics and sign shops around here do some amazing work. I'm willing to bet an experienced sign shop.could do it.

I know there are many threads on this subject, but what are the thoughts on zinc additives? When these engines were made, my understanding is that there were higher levels of zinc in oils at the time.

I used to use 10w30 Amsoil Signature Series on my 97 LX450 but, the engine would burn about 1qt every 3,000 miles. I switched to 10w40 Amsoil AMO ( high in zinc) with the Amsoil filter and no compsumption thus far. The engine has 182,000 miles.

Rotella T6 for years.
Not sure how the new T6 formula (more energy efficient mandated by the gov) is compared to the old formula.

Mobil1 would be my second choice if T6 turns out messed with the Zinc content. But I need to compare the additives first, before switching. Mobil1 might have less Zinc anyway.

I have used pretty much all the oils labeled as 'synthetic' from the day I bought my LX450 (about 16 years ago)... I like 0W40 or 5W30 for winter (I am in Canada ... some winter days get fairly cold) ..... I have been using 5w30 Mobil 1, year round for the last 2 years but expect I will shift to the 10w30 or a 'X'w40 for the summers now. 10w30 Mobil 1 in it now. Use only Toyota, Mobil 1 or standard Wix filters (now that I have found a Wix supplier handy)

LX450 368,000km
