Funny story: a few years ago on the Lippencott pass in Death Valley, the fuel gauge went from showing half+ full to below empty!
It was due to the really bumpy sections jarring something loose and the bad news was that we had about another 100 miles to go
before the nearest gas station in Stovepipe Wells. This was after a complete engine rebuild so I had no fuel mileage data to go by.
It really focuses the attention to try to squeeze out every last tenth of a mpg - I knew we'd probably make it but walking would be bad!
We made it and filled up with some of what would seem cheap now $5.99/gal gas...
Still getting very good mileage and a sweet running 2F.

Full yard today, damn these things are addicting. On the far left is a new LC, absolutely love it so far. I know its not going to last as long as the others but I am enjoying it now. The tan one is a 74 and was my first adventure and what started the obsession that annoys the wife daily. The white one is the 77 LS swap I'm building for my kid, I'm on final approach of just over 2 years on the build. The far right is a parts truck I bought, the frame is rough and I should just finish breaking it down for parts and call it a day but I its hard to say no to another build. I may use many of the parts for a 40/80 build in the future.

Rebuilt my leaky clutch master cylinder after not listening to the advice to always replace it when replacing the clutch master. I already had a rebuild kit or I would have just bought one, it took some effort to get it cleaned up. I cleaned up the firewall and fixed the missing paint from the brake fluid. After successfully installing the cylinder on the fresh paint, I proceeded to fill it up with brake fluid, then realized I never attached the brake line. :bang:

The original 2F and the 155F only got 11 mpg and the tank was 16 gallon. I put a 29 gallon tank and the R2.8 should give great range.

I was changing the oil on the 40 and the Celica at the same time and forgot to install the drain plug on one of them.

I did that on a company truck and cracked the block.
Oh no! I keep the hood open when I'm changing the oil and I put the full containers somewhere on the engine bay to hopefully prevent this from happening. Did you get fired? A friends works for Take 5 settling cases from the negligence of their employees. It's crazy how often they destroy an engine!

We were servicing our trucks in the shop and changing both the coolant and oil along with running in and out to get parts or fluids and instead of finishing the oil I put coolant in and started the motor to circulate the coolant. We used that truck for 3 guys to run from Rock Springs, WY to pick up the third guy in Casper, WY and headed down to Mineral Well, TX for a week of training and then back. It did not start knocking until I was headed to the shop to unload a air compressor with the tank. That was just one of the reasons I did not make it through my probation. The pay was terrible at $1500/month on a sliding scale so the more hours the less we made. I went back to Millwrighting and Welding and made more money. Which lead to working on GE Turbines and because a Field Engineer.

Right now the R2.8, and gear boxes don't have any fluids and have to check the fluids off the list before I ever start the Cummins. The drain plugs are all loose in the diffs and gear boxes so I don't forget to put oil in. I have sunk way to much money into my 40 to make that bone headed mistake again.

My 2025 LC is a twin of yours…. Fun to drive but the mpg is VERY disappointing, especially since it’s hybrid and I still use the recommended premium (91) fuel.

Curious what is your average MPG, I have it on the eco setting now. Its still on its first tank so still lots of driving before I really will compare. It does move a lot faster than my 4runner, might be too easy to push the throttle for zoom time.

6k miles and a consistent 18.6mpg. (I did get the larger off-road tire package, but wouldnt expect that to hurt gas mileage by that much)

Sorry to get off-topic on this thread, but at least its LC related!
