Honestly. There can never be enough of those in a man's life.

To be fair, it was a she doing it to a he.

I had an ex sell my bed for $3, glad she didn’t buy a LandCruiser on my dime.

She got so mad when I laughed and told her it was the most clever thing she did in our relationship…

So, 3 weeks later, the tire is on and the job is done. When I got this Land Cruiser, the PO had a ladder mounted to the back of the truck and no spare tire. Never thought I was a purist but nearly $750.00 dollars later, she’s back to stock for the rear. Since this body is in nearly excellent shape, I don’t believe it will see any major work done in my lifetime so to fill in the blind rivet nut holes ….Amazon

plastic plugs painted with rustic green aerosol spray, 12 of them. The rivnuts were drilled out and pushed into the door, fished out from the bottom with a screwdriver and tape

The diamond plate is gone…. Back in the mid 1970’s when I lived in Vermont, the salt in the winter would eat the back end of new cars, Jeeps and land cruisers… I do not like the look as it says to me…”there goes another rotted out Land Cruiser”. In the 45 + years since, it seems that diamond plate is now an “accessory”. I was happy to see that when I removed it, the only flaw was a few pop rivet holes. The paint under it is perfect

washed it today….73 degrees out. Beats 35 and 95 degrees

Did some more work on the upholstery. I've cut out the door cards using the PVC door cards from Cityracer. Made a mistake with the router on the door handle cut out which I'll need to fill with duraglass.

The next step is the mount the speakers. I need around an inch of offset in order to clear the window. I'd also like to angle the speakers up and to the rear in order to "send" the sound wave up to the driver and drinker as well as not having them point directly toward each other (destructive waves).

Since I'm using JL audio C600s, I needed to find 6" rings which are very hard to find. Lots of 6.5" rings. Founds some carpeted ones that I stripped off. The rings were 3/4" thick and I need 1 inch stand off, I stacked two and glued them together.

I'd like to "trim" 3/4 inch angled to no trim. I performed some old school trigonometry and found that I needed to angle a guide block by 3 degrees. Once I cut two wedge blocks, template taped them onto my router guide. The guide came with a great center ring to template tape the rings onto the guide.

A quick run through the table router and the rings are beveled at a 3 degree angle. Luckily remembered to mark the low spot so I know exactly how to angle them.

Next step is screwing them in place, routing the speaker hole out and then fiberglassing the ring so there is a smooth transition to the door.

That is awesome to hear that it was free of rust and the DP wasn’t hiding anything. You’ve got a real gem there.

Is there a slip-shaft hidden in there? When wheeling Landcruiser frames will flex enough to break the input of the Saginaw box. I'd highly recommend switching to a DD slip-shaft and Flaming River (or similar) U-joints. I'd be concerned that your current setup will fail and break at the possible worst time.

It's got a DD slip-shaft.

If the next owner wants to buy new U-joints, they are welcome to.

So I am making some slow progress with my LM7 4L60E transformation...
I got the 454 with TH400 removed, wrapped up and sold to a new owner

Got the new to me LM7 and 4l60E in my hands and started to disassemble to see the internal condition of an 88k miles (but later learned that it has been sitting for 7 years and it lived in Michigan, hello salt spray!)

Transmission is off to get rebuilt after 250k miles

Tearing into the engine I found some less than friendly looking pistons and cylinders walls in the block so told myself that electrolysis was it my future...

I love a good science project!

Not the most exciting but installed hubs on my rig today…first time it’s ever had a chance to “freewheel“ since it’s birth in 82’…these Saudi rigs didn’t come with locking hubs (saved the original end caps, hate to throw away serviceable parts…)

If the next owner wants to buy new U-joints, they are welcome to.

Nothing wrong with the U-joints. On my phone screen it looked like a round shaft welded together solid (which could be bad). With the strong U-joint, a DD slip shaft and some solid welds you should be good to go.

In these parts welds aren’t permitted on steering components on street driven vehicles. No exceptions. That said, I understand they are accountable at the race track. Go figure.

I didn’t want any potential hassles so I designed my conversion without any wheels on the steering components. The scab plates are welded to the frame on both sides, but the strength comes from the grade 8 bolts with lock nuts, lock washers, Loctite, and thick wall DOM tubing crush sleeves.

Great update, congrats mate!
It seems that all 40-Series in Saudi (if not in the whole Middle East) do not have free wheeling hubs...

Could you please give the part number of your AISIN hubs? I will soon order them for my FJ45 restoration...
