Dimmer switch was stuck on high beam since I got the car. Ordered one from Napa (Echlin DS101) but I thought I could make the original one work. Drilled two service holes, filled it with penetrating oil and left it over night. Was still stuck. Almost gave up on it, but thought I might as well wack it a few times on the floor, it worked! I’ll use it and keep the new one as a spare. Will fill the holes with epoxy.

Nice work! I also have one that is frozen in the down position. I am going to have to give this a try.

I drilled those holes also and sprayed contact cleaner in them and it fixed it also.

So I’m not the only one that’s thrown parts on the floor in frustration hoping for a fix….

I have done the same to a dimmer switch and it worked. Drilled a hole and sprayed MAF sensor cleaner in it so it evaporated quickly. Worked for a few years until one of the wiring posts corroded off.

Hope it works out for you too, it’s nice to keep a 60+ years old part on the truck. I had another broken one that my neighbor gave me, I tried to open it to fix it but broke it to pieces in the process, at least I learned how it works. Here are the pieces inside if it helps, might still attempt to epoxy it and put it together.

@Grayscale you'll like this. My Buddy Ed and I are big photo nerds. He shot this photo of my fiance and I on his Leica m5 and my leica 50mm lens. I love how the photo turned out. I am waiting on some film to come back but I was shooting my fuji gw690 medium format with some color film! I think mine will be nice too. Ill post them when I get them developed.
