Put about 300 miles on it exploring the local national forest and then brought it in the garage to tackle a few rust issues.

Got tired of looking at a cracked and broken TC shift knob so I installed this on the 1976. Also put in a City Racer Repro inner boot and used some of the yellow zinc plated fasteners from Metric Overland.

Not much. More paint removal. Working my way down this side now. For some reason I’m saving the hood and bib for last. Might even do the dash first because it’s out of the rain.
Acquired another piece to the puzzle from Classic Cruisers.
Got some reflectors from Nolan so I went about finding the holes to fit the one a PO had covered up.

Washed ”The Iron Yak”, and took a drive. Drove her quite a bit over the past 5 days. I am loving this tire rim combination. So much fun to drive.
The tires are listed as 33.1 tall x10 inches wide. Rubber to road is 8 inches. This is a great tire for those looking for a tall tire that performs steering wise like a skinny.

The Iron Yak got a new pair of shoes

I am super pleased with the look and the ride Quality. Left front tire rubs steering rod at full turn. Was not expecting that.
My first 40 had PS so I couldn’t fully appreciate how much of a difference putting this combination on would affect steering. Steering is so much easier that is has me thinking I might not need to add PS in the future.

Finally. Well done. 👌 I hated those small tires.

Also finally have a flywheel cover installed. Have had this part for quite a while

Had big plans to replace brake lines, replace rear drums, cylinders. Replace some old bolts with new ones.

At end of the day I got one thing done! Out with the old shyt in with the new!!

Told Onur doing this was Cathartic just in all the wrong ways with all the issues I find!!

The 2 rear window latches on my 40 broke rather quickly. I ordered 2 more used from somewhere and one of those broke the other day. 42 year old plastic is just too brittle I guess. Ordered this one the other day which came from Indonesia. It definitely looks different than the original but it is NEW plastic and new paint. Just Ordered another—$20
Me thinks these will last a bit longer.

My 78 had a newer Jensen deck in it that required the dash to be cut a little, so the oem radio delete plate wasn't an option. A sheet of 1/8" abs, a hacksaw and a little mounting tape and the Jensen is history. Now I just need to install the door panels when they come in (holes in those too ... thanks PO) and find a nice little bluetooth speaker to sit on top of the dash. No need for great sound in this thing ... just some tunes will do.
