I had previously cleaned and lubed an odometer when it got jammed up. The plastic shaft that interfaces with the metal shaft, with a worm gear, was a bit stripped. I had installed a working-at-the-time odometer. This week it odometer wouldn't advance the 4th digit, jammed up because The fourth number wheel was gunked up on the little shaft they spin on.

So I had to do some surgery for what has to be the fourth time on 3 different odometers! Disassembled, cleaned, lubed and reassembled. Works now. It's kinda fun but I don't want to do this again for a while.
Done that a few times myself but got tired of pulling cluster to work on the odometer so now................ I just remove the cluster screws and tap it against the dash a couple a times when I notice a digit not moving - has worked so far! 🤣

Test fitted my vader light repro.
I don't have a FST but I noticed on some rigs that the sane vader style light was under the dash. I'm not familiar with that setup but I figured I would see if could mount anywhere, and low and behold there seems to be a spot made for it.
Wiring is straight forward but I need to get that done.
The ROOM and WIPER knobs are my own creations. I'm using the ROOM for turning on the vader light. :)

-some news about my adventures with 69058-69016-R CYLINDER & KEY SET, FUEL INLET LOCK ,

i have been putting the final touches on the needed and desired parts kit required to install a New OEM 69058-69016-R Fuel Door Lock Assy .

on / in a 72-12/78 FJ40 . Working with another member in tandem , we did a few dry runs form start to finish indeed hoping to run into

a UN-inticpated step or minor unforeseen issue i had not thought of very deeply on paper , prior to the test fit and prototype riggers phase ...

to our delight we only found one !

it WILL be necessary by some but not all folks to Adjust by hand either there 61802-90300 COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY, FUEL INLET BOX

or " Fuel Door " for short :D

or

there
61824-90301, RETAINER, FUEL INLET CUSHION, so this made it clear to add the four 5mm machine screws that affix both to the
tub and inlet filler box itself .

i had the best possible OEM Toyota fastner needed in my head in seconds and in my hands in moments , my long time trusty

:93385-15012
: SCREW, W / WASHER ....

i have been using these
little bad boy problem solvers since High School and never looked back , Both the Cushion retainer and Cover Hinge itself use, or ..............DO USE NOW ! , the same exact fastener . :D

- Since the only short term Notable wear item can really be the Rubber Cushion itself , i ordered up a Qty x 50 pack that day without giving a 2nd thought .....

- The new OEM Black Rubber Exterior Lock Pad & New OEM Clamp , or Retainer were no-brainers as well and where i had indeed planned in advance to include the black rubber Pad , it only became more then apparent during multiple installs and removals , the Shinny New Silver
JAPAN , Parts Zinc Plating Aided in the easy sliding in and catching of the de-tent spring design of the OEM retainer clamp ......

SCREW Rusty lock cylinder Retainer Clips and old Dry-Rotted Black Rubber Pads as well ! Like Seriously Screw Them 😇

Final-Fit and a
Final Polished Factory-Finish is the idea & concept here and NOW a reality as you will see in my TECH. Photos below ...

i am still not convinced 100% that all 1972-12/78 40 Series came with Factory installed Black rubber lock pad to begin with either ?
may have been a later model update towards 12/78 ?

well ..................🤔

Now they ALL Do ! 😎

Started buttoning up the interior on the 64.
Wondering if these jack rod holders are stock for my 64?
I have never really seen this type before.

Love the tool roll. Need to buy a couple more if they ever come up for sale again.

With the PTO gearbox installed, I was able to attach the engagement linkage:

Now to get the tranny tunnel cover ready. SOR fiberglass cover and gasket set:

Finally, in place, screwed down. Fairly good fit, but warped a little in the rear. The screws pulled it down pretty well.

I was very happy with my "guessitmates" on locating the transfer case lever and PTO lever cutouts.

This was a decent week for productivity....

Changed the rear diff gear oil. The front was done by the PO, the rear wasn't. Weird.
Replaced a sticking rear wheel cylinder.
Installed a new clutch master cylinder
Mounted the rear license plate on a simple bracket I made.
Installed a radiator overflow.
Replaced the original cigarette lighter with a new one.
Got the gas gauge working! The PO had wired it incorrectly.
Installed new OEM type bulbs in the gauge cluster.
Replaced the dry rotted vacuum lines/ caps on the carb. (Quadrajet on a SBC). It starts right up and idles like a champ, now.
Cleaned and painted the air cleaner while it was off for the vacuum line fix.

I think that covers the majority of it.

With the help of @LDowney, we got my tailgate mounted this past weekend!
