Mounted new wheels and tires
Is that about +10 wheel offset? I have -20 wheels and ran spacers for a while, which made it effectively +11.75. I loved the look w my Kut Snake flares, but I since pulled the spacers. No issues braking but wondered if it was hurting high-speed tracking. I am interested to hear how you got there (wheels or spacers) and what you think of the ride and handling.

I mounted the Batwing awning and HiLift jack today.

Installed 3000k yellow LED bulbs in the fog lights. Much brighter and I like the additional contrast.

I also installed my Slee Sliders today. Very happy with them but still need to do a little clean up on the trimmed rocker panel and wire up the courtesy step lights.

Chrome delete is still on the todo list.

In the midst of tweaking the AHC suspension for more payload and perhaps a slight lift by adding a leveling spacer.

Sorry to be that “guy” but that’s the worst place to put a hi-lift for a few safety reasons. In the event of a frontal impact, that hi-lift could easily end up going through your windscreen.

Maybe there's something in accident dynamics I don't understand, but wouldn't that be go through back window of vehicle in front? Will potentially need a bunch of vehicle mod insurance.

Finished the TrekboxX install on Sunday.

Here's the install thread...

Point being the jack is going to turn into a potentially deadly missile.

Is there any evidence of this actually happening or of the owner being left out to dry? I always read about the concern but don’t recall examples of how it planned out in the real world.

I stand corrected, I should have said there is a potential for becoming a missile. Here in Ca. if you breath it's your fault.

I hear you on that. And I wasn’t refuting your theory, I’m just curious what the data really is. I have mine mounted on the passenger side of the Frontrunner using their mount. In theory that thing could do the same.

At some point I’d really like to dive into the whole ‘coverage is voided’ topic. Even OJ this month camped heavily on the over GVWR risk, but yet when I talk to my SF agent he says that (in Oregon) they cover all liability regardless. The only exception would be willful intent (running over your mother in law on purpose).

Coverage to the limits of ones policy I suspect. The legal world is a strange and funny place, often not fair with location playing into any award.

How did you mount them?

looks good though! I would just mount it more forward facing instead of on top the bull bar and push it through someones car, if they hit me! :p

I wasn't trying to imply the insurance company wouldn't cover. What one would have to be insured for is negligence due to the modified vehicle. Possibly through an umbrella type policy. Taking the concept to an extreme, would you agree that just setting the jack on the hood was negligent when it became a projectile in an accident? I feel pretty sure after being on all sides in accident cases (including as a jury foreman) that a lawyer would argue for a large settlement arguing that an insecurely and/or improperly mounted object was negligent and increased the damage, caused death, etc. A jury could easily set an award that exceeded the limits of many policies. Example: Just today a local lawyer had a TV ad on in which he got $5,000,000 for a guy injured in an accident. What happened I haven't a clue, but I know $5mil is over my liability limits - would they come for my house, my 401K, etc.?
