What wheels/spacers? I have a feeling that's going to rub pretty bad. I have the same suspension and those tires in 285/70/18 on stock wheels, and I can't imagine going any bigger without running into issues. I test fitted that exact tire on mine with some Tundra wheels, and there was no way it was going to work.

They are the stock wheels. Hmmmm maybe I screwed it up. Argh

2008 cruiser, east fix.

Wheel spacers to push tires away from kdss components.
10 mm Toyota spacer on top of coilovers to help clear everything else.

I don't know because I put test fitted stock with ill fitting wheels, but it wasn't close to working. Lift doesn't allow to fit a bigger tire on an IFS truck, so the fact this was stock means little:

Same tire a size down in 285/70/18:

IMO, it wouldn't be worth the effort to keep the 295/70r18s. I'd strongly recommend going down to 285/70r18 though those will still be too much for the stock wheels and you'll need spacers + lots of trimming + maybe even UCAs to get the alignment right. You could probably do the 275/70r18 with the stock wheels.

Do you think the 285/70r18 would be too much with SPC UCA's on a stock wheel? Just got the SPC UCA's installed with the ARB BP-51's. TIA

With the 285/70-18s, you will most likely need to get rid of the mud flaps. You will want to look into wheel spacers to avoid rubbing the sway bar at full lock.

Bora or Spidertrax 1.25" spacers.
You can get the Boras on Amazon for less than $250 for all 4 shipped.

Those tires are going to rub like crazy on a stock setup.

I have 285/75R17 Nitto RGs on +25 offset wheels, which is 33.8". I had to remove the mud flaps, hammer the bracket behind them inward, heat up the rear plastic liner and reshape it, and trim several inches of the front liner on both sides. I didn't rub on the UCA, but I am 35mm further outward. I rub the KDSS slightly and the PS sway bar at hard left lock.

@kreiten runs 285/70R18 BFG KM2s on +20 offset wheels. He has a similar 33.7" circumference. I don't know if kreiten ever tried his tires on factory wheels, but 295/70R18 is +5mm wider on either side of the rim and 14mm taller total, which is over 1/2" taller, meaning 0.25" less clearance.

What size are you installing? Reason I ask is I was thinking about spacers with stock wheels and was looking at BORA in the .75 or 1 inch size. My thinking was it would be closer to the RW offset than the Spidertrax 1.25.

These are .75” I added behind my existing 35x12.5x17.

Rear winch?

Now that's commitment cutting the frame like that. Would love to see more of the fabrication pics.

Aw man!!! I have looooong thought how great it would be to have a rear winch!

On some ledges, you really can’t turn around.

Also...on trails like steal Bender...where you may actually need a line to a point behind you as you descend a massive drop to avoid a forward rollover... t’would be a life saver if you could elephant-tail BY YOURSELF...and slowly winch yourself DOWN anchored to something behind.

Or...control your nose drop connected to a non-winch vehicle with a noob driver you don’t trust to strap-hold your descent.

I wonder if a mod like that could be fitted behind a rear bumper like my Slee...perhaps a bit offset...then effectively recenter if necessary using a snatch block (so you aren’t pulling from the side since you’s Use a similarly offset second point via the snatch block setup.

I dunno...just thinking...but I’ve long wished for a rear winch.
Nice work, Rob + BBuilt!!!!!!
