Well, well, well; look what I picked up today. Not the world's best deal, but $150 a wheel ain't bad.

Wow great looking wheels and you can't go wrong with the KO's but I know it's a matter of taste but I love the black lettering showing not the white letters. Congrats

No no no. These are just junk tires that came with them when I bought them. They are going to the dumpster. 5% tread left.

Edit: I would also add, that I totally agree with you; Laces-in on newer cars and trucks, but if I am doing something old-school (like an FJ40 for instance), laces-out, always!

Dam, and I was going to offer to take the pesky aluminium rims off your hands so you could fit those beautiful tires to your lovely stock rims. :slap:

Great find. Cant get them down here unless I import.

Can someone clarify, if the TRD lugs are required with TRD wheels? It sounds like a stupid question, but I feel like I have seen something about specially designed wheels/lugs.

Yes. There is an installation kit with them. @beno can get them at a reasonable price.

Yes, you need the TRD lug nuts for the TRD wheels.

Here's what the TRD lug nuts look like:

Note the conical mating surface as opposed to the flat surface found on OEM lug nuts.

Another thing, it's a pretty tight fit where the lug nuts go onto the wheel:

Note how the lug nuts are recessed into the wheel.

Some have said that some aftermarket liug nuts, like these made by Gorilla, might work:

But note how the aluminum conical mating surface on the TRD lug nuts rotates separately from the steel body thus protecting the wheel/lug nut mating surface while the aftermarket lug nuts are all one-piece steel.

I highly recommend using the TRD lug nuts on the TRD wheels.

I hope yall start a new thread about going to 35s

I am flirting with the idea of painting mine like these OEM TRDs:

Congrats on the rims. You can easily plastidip them like I did, matte black...

Second photo is the center caps.
They're cheap so you may want to replace those as well - just a thought.

This is the direction I decided to take. I am going to plasti dip them flat black, and then I am going to hit them with 2 coats of plasti dip copper metalizer (I had to buy it on Amazon). It should give it a nice dark bronze color.

This is the color I am going to go with:

It is darker than the OEM TRD wheels on toyota's website, but I think I prefer the darker bronze look.

I also found some suitable spline drive lug nuts on Amazon. I got them in flat black, which I think will look cool with the bronze wheel.

I plasti dipped mine in the flat black and did 5 coats which may be overkill but I wanted a nice thick layer. After about 6 months I have seen 1 small spot in front wheel that I need to touch up but other than that they are holding up nicely. We'll see how they look after this winter.

Oh hell yes I had to travel. Jackson, MS to Jackson, TN this morning. :bang:

@mooseknuckles, like Willy, my plan will be to install the Nitto Trail Grappler 35x12.5x17
I'm betting you're going to need wheel adapters with those conservative offsets on the trd wheels trying to push 12.5s.

Lots of cutting. Regear a must. I'm betting you're going to end up reducing tire size. Good luck buddy.

I could see some rubbing issues due to not enough offset on the wheel on the UCA(depending on how much additional clearance the aftermarket UCA's allow for) And it will depend on exact brand of tire(all very in tire width, side tread etc...) As far as re-gearing, that just depends on how much power loss etc your willing to accept. I felt power loss at 33's, but it's acceptable to me, by the book I should proly re-gear... I've run tons of Cruisers with 35's with far less power and they drove fine, never had an issues over 100's of thousands of miles. Will it work things harder you bet, but that's the game we're playing here... It sounds like Slee has a formula that certain tires with certain wheels will work for 35's, remember, too much offset might cause more problems then not enough, just my 2 cents... Now Bring on the 35's!!!

Yeah, what does Slee know anyways....:)

As to plasti dip. I think you should read reviews before you sling mud. Its actually very good for wheels. But please, tell me more...

I have had 35's on a previous cruiser with far less power, and it was never a problem. The Tundra forums are a good indicator of how well the 5.7 handles the size, and it handles the size splendidly.

I am looking forward to my 35" pizza cutters (as you like to call them). And who cares if I have to cut the wheels wells.

And I ain't your buddy, pal. ;)
