Not my truck but here is an idea for lights.

Still have the original battery in my '13 remote/fob and it's still going strong...

I keep it in a small airtight ziploc bag to keep the lithium from evaporating;)

Well, like clockwork - another 6mos elapsed and I replaced my FOB battery yesterday. CR1632 from Energizer, Duracell, doesn't seem to matter. Wonder if Costco sells a 100 pack so I can stock up :bang:

Just replaced mine. It lasted approx 3 years before I started to get the dash warning for low key battery.

Jumped on the grille bandwagon & took off the RTT & awning. ARB front came in so I'll be putting that on over the weekend.

What's your trick to getting the logo to stay on the grille? Just attached mine last night and came back out this morning to it barely hanging on to the double sided tape... It's quite humid here.

For mine, I used 1-1/4" fender ss washers (with self etching primer and black rattle can to blend with grill) behind with M6 bolts (will vary depending on your emblem type).

But the trick, I think, was using 1/4" thick by 1/2" wide black weatherstripping which 'squishes' into the irregular grill surface and helps grip into place. Thought about locktite on the bolts but haven't needed that yet.

I have a screw with a piece of metal in the middle, the edges I used some "shoe goo" to hold on more securely & prevent rotation. I have some epoxy I was going to use if the "shoe goo" didn't hold up, but so far it is working great. Between the screw and "shoe goo" it isn't going anywhere.

Should I keep or revert the grill?

With the black wheels, sliders, and roof rack, plus the pending bumper as other black accents - what do the masses say?

Looks good. Mine is still in the garage. Have no free time to work on it.

You should also wrap the mirrors and the inner hood [bulge to bulge] black... :)

Do you have a link for the grill and emblem?

Also...anyone find a good source for the Japanese To Yo Ta symbol?

Last Q... Anyone found a matte black version of that grill (they all seem to be shiny black).

You could always paint it matte

Thought of that. Just wondered if it would end up peeling, etc. Looks pretty slick, and would be ridiculous to try and sand that mesh grill... Prob worth a try.

Labor of love

Here's the grill: Front Black Off Road Meshed Bumper Grill Grille for Toyota 08-09 Land Cruiser | eBay

Here's the emblem: FJ40, FJ45 Emblem - Front Grille - OEM - Emblems - Exterior

-edit: looks like the FJ40 emblem is backordered, but other MUD members have used other emblems available from this site

Lousy, send it to me and I'll dispose of it properly. ;)

I have the emblem from my '69 40 series with some nice patina...

Telling self - "One thing at a time, one thing at a time, one thing at a time..."

The next one thing this weekend is to build the looms for the camp/aux lights and then wire up switches for all the lights.
