I was driving my 80 back from fishing with my son tonight and saw a very nice grey hundy pulling a fishing boat. Off road bumper and low profile roof rack. Gotta be a Mud member.

Oh yeah, this was in eastern Iowa. Don't see many hundys that aren't mall cruisers around here.

By "this week" I mean the past 12 months, but...

Brought it home:

2004, 105K, southwest-only truck, dealer paid for a full detail and timing belt. Once I re-detailed it I began to fix the assorted nit-noid crap that bugged me.

Fake wood, satellite radio receiver, and ruined paint all removed:

Dented door panel swapped out for an undented version:

Also, to whatever Toyota engineer thought this was a good idea, I'm sorry, I had nothing to do with WWII, there is no need to punish me...

I imagine I'll mostly continue to lurk here unless I come across something that has yet to detailed in the forums. Due to some changes in plans the truck will be remaining stock as the family truckster, a role it seems to be doing well, if thirstily, so far.

PS: I apologize if the photos are huge, Photobucket and I are having some disagreements.

No, the company no longer produces the wheel. I've been trying to find a matching 5th for a spare and have had zero luck. 8.5 wide, but I'm unsure of the offset although I know it's not as negative as the factory wheels.
thanks for the reply and the info keep us posted if you find anything they look nice

Did you just replace these pieces with OEM replacements or did you do something else? I've got a couple scratches in my silver paint and on the cup holder cover that bother me.

Thanks.

Thanks.

The door card was an eBay find (~$120) from a California salvage company that required some subcomponent swapping to marry up the best parts of the old & "new" door cards. The plastic wood was just pulled off with the shifter surround area of the center console getting a coat of almost matching metallic silver spray paint. The handle, coat hook, and 12V outlet were all sourced online and are new OEM pieces.

This is what the shifter surround ended up looking like:

The paint is a shade or two too bright and my prep work sucked, but it looks better than it did. If a cheap one in good shape pops up I'll probably replace it.

My center is completely trashed. What did you use to remove the wood finish?

My 96 and 04. The pic of the 96 was taking 2 years ago but I still own it. It is now missing the front bumper and has duratracs on it. The pic of my 04 was just taken earlier this week at the walmart in coralville.

It wasn't me. But I know what your saying. Every time I see another LC I just stare at it. My wife thinks I have something wrong with me.

My wife has been thinking the same for years. She gets it though. She's to the point where she takes pics of them and sends them to me when she sees them.

Nice LCs!

So does mine. She has a better eye Than me now

Just added 3 turns to the torsion bars. I don't have tech stream, but it smoothed things out pretty nicely. I might have to but some shims on the backside.

1. Bought a $10 floor jack - it was 45 miles to father-in-laws to complete work in the past.
2. With new floor jack, replaced pass side Airlift 100 bag - 2nd one, but it did last 7 years and they are $10 warranty every time.
3. Since I had the jack out, I leveled out the drivers to pass side torsion bars - I think.
Everytime I measure, I get slightly different numbers. I think I will drive it a bit and re-measure.
so far, 2 1/2 turns for the pass side and 3 1/2 for the drivers. I still think the pass side is higher.
I still want a bit more front lift before the alignment. Anyone know if Slee offers lifetime for the vehicle alignments? Trip to Golden next.
4. Installed (finally) a Pioneer AVH-X5600BHS 2-din unit with the Metra adapter - stock sub and speakers all work - good enough for my aging ears anyway.

A heat gun and patience got it up & off; Goo Gone, a fingernail, and patience got rid of the two-sided padded tape that held it all on.

Sadly it seems like every USDM truck had either the grey or brown plastic wood from the factory or dealer meaning even a good salvage part likely will need it taken off.

Timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, serpentine belt, ALL fluids changed, new BFG AT/KO2's installed, installed new actuator motor for drivers door (thanks IM8MUD), professionally detailed inside/out, and am getting bearings re packed Saturday with new rotors/brakes all the way around. Then getting undercarriage rustproofed and painted to look new.

Replaced another drive axle boot that was pierced by a pine limb and cleaned the windshield.
