Flew to Texas and bought another 100. 2006 in Black Garnet. I officially have the bug.

Tried swapping around tires with my spare last night to fix a rear-end shake/vibration to no avail. Next up is to pull the driveshaft, lock the diff, and see if it goes away in 2WD.

Removing the driveshaft solved most of the problem so a replacement and new u-joints are in order. Still not as smooth as I believe it can be, but the combination of MTs and worn bushings are likely to blame. Bushings will be my spring project.

How many miles?

What killed it?
275k miles. It wasn't dead yet just bleeding externally from the headgaskets. Ran fine but it wasn't something I was comfortable taking on long trips off grid.

Probably just age. After 20 years the headgaskets just had enough. Having a spare motor sitting in the corner of the garage ready to go in made it an ez decision.

Some of us are farsighted enough to have heater-Ts and brake pads sitting in the garage … others have entire motors 🤓

Last little bit:
One of the twins got a huge rock in windshield just before Thanksgiving, so was able to order new trim from Decatur (still processing) on Cyber Monday.
Same twin backed into our driveway gate post, looks like is should pull - no gashes in the paint. Just breathe, I try to look it as a "Learning Experience" as no one got hurt.
Changed oil and took an oil sample for the first time (and made a big mess doing so). Will post the results when they are back.
Finally, the youngest named the truck after three years - LARRY.
