One of those super busy weeks where all you have time for is beautification...

Added a sew-it-yourself leather steering wheel cover. Not my first time doing one. One of the most cathartic jobs you can do on your own vehicle. Super calming but simple job that takes about an hour and you end up with a much better feel than stock or a s***ty pull-over kine.

Also, since today was the first sunny day in what seems like weeks, I did some painting, added some chrome trim I'd ordered awhile back, and took a wire brush to some corrosion on my b and c pillars and then painted them over. Topped it all off with some wind deflectors, and that was a full day!

Oh yeah! I almost forgot the most important addition. A Gudetama hanging from the mirror! Long story there, but it's absolutely a necessity!

Every time I try one of those steering wheel covers I slice my hands to bits and it looks like hell when I'm done. I don't have that skill I guess.

- Powder coated OEM wheels and fresh KO2's.
Looks great. I powder coated my wheels more than 10 years ago and they have held up great. Also run KO2s. They have been a great all-around tire.

Big week for my 2000. I am the original owner and have put nearly 260K miles on her. Plan on having her another 20 years and 250K miles. Had the following done, all with OEM parts:

Timing belt, water pump, pulleys and tensioners, cam and crank seals, etc.
Radiator and all hoses - it still had the original radiator. No leaks at all, but it definitely had that brown hue to it - assume that I was already on borrowed time
Thermostat
Heater t's and hoses
Misc. oil cooler hoses
Fan bracket
Fan clutch
Fan pulley
Fan shroud - it was somehow broken over the years
Serpentine belt, idler and tensioner
Most fluids - ATF, both diffs, transfer case, etc.
Repack front wheel bearings

Next up - my suspension is all original and the AHC is still working perfectly (knock on wood), but I definitely hear some creaking down there. Need to start figuring out what needs to be replaced.

Random question - do LX's and Land Cruisers use the same UCA's?

Would you have a link to these inserts?? Wonderful!

@BenCC

Here's the link to his builds.

Installed my WKOR sliders on my 99. I liked it without the sliders, but my wife and kids had trouble stepping in without the side steps...at the same time they look cool and will help "protect" my truck if something happens. Good excuse to get sliders lol

DOM, 15%, rear plate

Group HAMOM (help a member out monthly) to put a 2” gvw OME rear lift and (edit) Iron Man heavy torsion bars up front from the used parts bought cheap pile. Hardest part was deciding to sawzall the rear shocks. Toyota shocks all around. Loading it up before final torsion bar tension. Looking for at least 1.5” rake loaded.

Sorry if I misunderstood, but were you able to use the Toyota shocks with a 2" lift?

@rock climber I meant to tag you on this. Yes, I will either be successful this weekend or rip something out utilizing the Toyota shocks. So far, everything checks out for proper flex in the rear as demonstrated on the lift. I will do my best to get off camber this weekend while attending the Carolina Relic Run.

Edit: if I read correctly, key is having at least two inches of reserve flex in front for good on road manners.

Put in a new ABS pump and pressure canister, so got the LX back on the road with brakes, then on my third test drive I noticed a misfire, then on the way up a steep hill to get home the check engine light started blinking. Got home, pulled codes, then tracked the number 4 cylinder misfire down to a loose spark plug. Decided to pull all coils and tightened all plugs, then did the Pin 7 Mod since I had about 10 minutes to go into the dash. Now I can use low range without the transmission relay module automatically locking the center diff. But I can lock it whenever I want.

Thanks, Hagerty! I don't know the ins and outs of having them as an insurance provider for rigs that are used harder than mine, but for our LX, which is primarily a dirt bike hauler/forest road explorer/fun truck, they are great to work with and didn't ask any questions when I opted for OEM glass/moldings/etc.

Like most with 330k+, the frame needed a little love, but it wasn't a complete disaster. Little bubbling into the roof line (can see the knock down and clean up below), but I wasn't going to send this thing to a body shop to get the leading edge of the roof repainted.
