We're going to be doing about the same thing with ours. you know, in 12 years when the oldest can drive... I doubt ill get it back though lol seeing the milages on all of yours in your sig makes me hopeful though!
I handed down a high mileage LC/LX to all four of my kids that rode in them for years in baby seats. They didn’t think anything of it until college when their friends told them how cool they were.

Updated my wiring in the vehicle. Added a Switch Pros, front light bar, wired some rear lights, re-wired the lockers and the compressor, etc. I have never tackled a wiring project like this, so it was a new thing for me which was enjoyable and its sweet to know I have now pretty much done everything in a vehicle (from a DIY sense).

Mounted the Switch Pros on the fire wall. Also used this cool marine gasket for the wiring. Stole this from a member on here. Always forget his screen name because I cant pronounce it, haha. Sorry man, I'll tag you if I run across your thread again!

I decided not to run a second battery in my Slee tray. I did a bunch of research a few months ago and determined mounting lithiums in the cabin is the way to go. I don't have a fridge yet, so this project is down the road. But it free'd up that spot and I used it to mount the fuse block, terminal block and busbar. Powertrays doesn't make anything for our vehicle, unfortunately. But this worked well IMO.

And pic with the compressor and air lines, etc for the lockers

Bought Slee's battery terminals. Worth it if you're going to hook up a bunch of stuff. The SDHQ's are nice also, but the price difference isn't very big anymore and they were out of stock.

Also installed my Dissent skid plates. Hard to take a pic thats worth posting of the underside, but heres the front end now

Looks great. What size tires are you running, and are those Tundra wheels?
They are 255/85/16s on the stock LX wheels. This combo is under 80lbs on paper I believe, but I have yet to weight them on a scale. Not the lightest combo possible, but pretty close.

I believe this is a textbook "panty dropper" electrical install. Well done! Something about having your wires all clean and pretty like that is just pleasing to the soul.

Thanks man! I did a bunch of research - and pretty much copied what the Taco guys do, as TONS of people run these on Tacos and use the powertray to do it.

On that note, I received my interior mount from the guys at @CruiserGarage today. Those guys are awesome, they must have shipped it late Friday because I paid for it on Friday at 4pm pacific, and it got here today from Texas! I was waiting 5-6 weeks or so for it to come back in stock and they were super on top of keeping me notified of when it was going to be in stock as well.

Its a sweet little mount and super sturdy, I highly recommend it. Doesn't interfere with my usb's in my AHC/coin slot either.

Can we get a little rudimentary schematic of this sweet Taco setup? Or perhaps a link? Again sweet setup broski.

Yeah, these links will be easier than me writing it up. Also, its not that the Taco guys invented this setup, but the switch pros thread over there is almost 100 pages long, so its good to reference for tips and tricks and to see how its recommended to set them up.

Some iteration of this setup is what most people run: Switch Pro 9100 / Power Tray Install on 5th Gen 4Runner - Full How To - https://trail4runner.com/2018/04/10/switch-pro-9100-power-tray-installation-4runner/
The Taco thread: Switch Pros 9100 install and BS thread - https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/switch-pros-9100-install-and-bs-thread.534369/
The trays most Toyota guys run: POWER TRAYS - Mounting Solutions for Expedition Vehicles - https://www.powertrays.com/
Switch-Pros 9100: SP9100 Switch Panel Power System - https://store.switchpros.com/sp9100-switch-panel-power-system/

For Tacos and 4Runners there's more trays, kits, etc. I might have been able to make one of them work, but as mentioned I used the Slee second battery tray for the fuse box, busbar and terminal bar, and mounted the switch pros module on the firewall. Switch-Pros recommends you don't mount it above the engine on the firewall, but I think that is more relevant to smaller vehicles where you literally would be mounting it directly above, or very close to the engine, which isn't the case in the 100. Also, they recommend you mount it vertically, so it worked great.

I am looking for some used tires for my '99 LX470. I am in St Helena, Napa Valley.
Your best bet is to post a wanted ad in the wheels and tires classified section

Well, this was unexpected, but I managed to find the coveted head unit with NAV for my 2002 in a small town north of Dubai. It looks to be correct, but came out of a GCC specification cruiser so I will have to wait and see. Picture attached.

How did you find it? Is there like a car-part for UAE?

Nice work! That was my build. I have about a full year with my SwitchPros and really like it. Your setup looks nice and clean. Agree on the Slee terminals. Has been nice to keep adding additional connections and keep it tidy.

As for my screen name CORunner = Colorado Runner.

I kept thinking your name was Gudmundur (or an iteration, I couldn't remember how to spell it), haha, and that I was spelling it wrong when I was attempting to @ you.

Sorry for the mixup... and thanks for great write-up in your thread!

Welllll... got new wheels and tires mounted up last Friday and the ol boy broke down on me THE NEXT DAY. I guess it was his way of telling me he needed a little love on some less-visible parts too, and gently reminding me that money-pit stuff like bumpers and lights and winches aint worth a nickel if the car doesn't run. Electrical system wasn't loving life, is the end story. The positive terminal on the battery itself I knew needed replacing, so I had one of those in the car. What I did not know was this:

5FE706EA-24CA-4A40-A2AB-E10B5FDD706C.jpeg

The alternator end of the positive battery cable was in just terrible shape too. Had to trim back 3-4" to get to good orange copper. I suspect that having leaky power steering lines puking onto the old alternator is what killed it, and after replacing alternator and fixing that leak last year, it never occurred to me to look at this cable end. SO. Yeah. I think it might have been just arcing internally there along the crappy corroded end until it just... couldn't any more. Important to know, it's a miracle the thing was running in any way, as I had a vise grip on the positive terminal holding battery cable on, and apparently the alternator side was barely attached either. And while it was in the shop (hat tip to OTM Cruisers- thanks Cole/ @Bama4door), wired my winch and lightbar up nice and neat, so those are done, and found a couple of other maintenance items to bear in mind for next time (rear transfer case output seal weeping a little, steering rack leaking slowly, my aforementioned rear trailing arms of custom banana shape).

Close with a pic of new, shinier-mode Larry the LX. He's back home again and the new rubber feels amazing AND it's nice to know there's 1-2 less little old-car things to cause me problems... for now, plus got another couple of little new/ fun things buttoned up. One day I'll be done fixing it up, right? 😅

See @CORunner's aforementioned post on the previous page. I believe he has a link in post #24
I peeped that thing as well. Pretty sweet!

how
I replaced the front sway bar links with Moog. Very beefy, and apparently poly bushings. The old ones were only a couple years old and already falling apart. If you get these the bushings have a lip you need to cut off so you can get the nut started.

Yeah I found it, the depressing thing is rerouting all the cables through it. I don't have one of those fancy switch pros.
I just drilled a hole and put a $.50 gasket in it that never actually fit properly.
