What do you carry in your 80 for Repairs & Recovery?

Holy mackerel, some of you guys carry a lot of stuff. (More power to you!)

I have a set of spare fuses and fusible links, spare distributor cap and plug wires, belts, and fluids, some small odds and ends, and a handful of basic tools. Granted, I don't do a lot of remote backcountry travel, but I do try to keep up on my preventative maintenance. Oh yeah, my single most important spare is my credit card. Can always have parts overnighted in a pinch...

Lol. Unfortunately most of the wheeling around here is not far off the beaten path. I'm sure my tune would change if I lived somewhere that real remote wheeling was possible. Until then, wheeling in groups and trying to plan ahead will have to do.
 Ya, just giving you crap. These days most wheeling trips are within 2hrs of home and usually with several other friends/rigs. I rarely even carrying a spare tire any more for more the spots we go to.

Yep, same here. Of the 2 places I wheel most frequently, both are within 20 minutes of an auto parts store. If I can jerry rig my way to the trailhead, I'm also well within AAA range of my house. Wish it weren't that way but such is life in Nebraska. If s*** went sideways enough that I had to bust out the welder, I'd be throwing it on a trailer and making it tomorrow's problem at my house.

But when you are in Nebraska are you really ever near anything?! That state is more godforesaken than Iowa!

It's not that much different unless you live in the mountains or the desert any where in the US these days. I live two hours away from 10 million acres of designated wilderness. There are roads through the the woods to get to the edge of that and the tradition here is to abandon the vehicle and go out into the bush on foot, ski, snowshoe, canoe, etc. Motors of any sort are banned.

There are some rough roads, but you kinda know you are going to be bouncing around quite a bit if they deteriorated. You can get pretty much anywhere on at minimum, a seasonally maintained road. A car like the 80 can go on pretty much all of the old logging roads, portages, etc. Those all end at the wilderness boundary though. After that, you're the 80. Lotta great spots though and a lot of good skills are honed.

No

To my left is 450 miles of Interstate and to my right is Council Bluffs. Not sure which one is worse...

We refer to that as Counciltucky...

Depends on the trip for me. If I'm in Moab or somewhere similar where it's a bunch of day trails I'll carry less because the trails are pretty close to town and it's feasible to make a run into town for spare parts in an emergency. But here in Utah there are still a lot of remote wheeling locations. For me, the more remote the better and I have grown to really enjoy several days away from civilization and not camping in the same spot two nights in a row. Because of the remoteness and distances covered on these trips I carry a few more things. When it's all laid out it looks like a lot but it typically all fits into 3 tool bags that all fit into a weatherproof bin.
