Final project of the weekend.

Built and installed my magnet latch for the table. Super simple and easy. No latch to deal with, no worries or rattles.

Very close to final weld out and finish.

Is there a rule of thumb for this?

200 lbs out of 2000 is 10%, how much should it go down?

Good question.
I know say a Tacoma I can make a notable change if I step on the bumper. Maybe I’m just chasing a ghost but I feel like the front of my 40 is over sprung. It’s not exactly smooth, but flexes well.

Wifey and baby are snoozing. Done with house work.

Taking a minute to sit down and collect what needs done/ finished on the 40 and to try and determine my ultimate direction.

Step one of today’s wondering.

My steering wheel has never been correct. In fact it’s completely wrong, but works and only has a small amount of play.

Wondering what I’m misssing. Obviously no horn parts in there, spacer?
I need a new bushing I saw someone was 3d printing a while ago.

Cruiser-Cult (@Cruiser Cult) has new bushings and horn contact rings

New healthy little 8lb 13oz boy to add to the family. Eats well already and slept much better than expected last night.

Mom was in labor 1.5 hours. They were ready. She wanted epidural, however they didn’t have time so she pushed through. Way proud of her. Way blessed.

A pin goes in the big hole in back of the wheel to cancel the turn signal.

Congrats on the baby.

We don’t want know how the baby is made, just show us the baby…

Genesis 1-28

“And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth”.

Rarely do I sit down and slow down. It’s been great the last few days to slow down and take it in.

Working on my 2025 goals for the 40.
A lot of deferred maintenance, a lot of little things that overall will just help the end product. I don’t know what the end product is, but ultimately a 40 that’s trust worthy.

I’ll be 40 In 4 years and I have a burning desire for a big trip in the 40 for my 40th. Trying to look at the long term and do things that get me to that point.
Parts collection for next year’s bigger project will continue through out the year. I would like to have the 40 dialed before I do a powertrain swap. It seems others jump in and do a complete build all at once and they don’t have a 40 to enjoy driving.

I sat down yesterday and created a list of things off the top of my head while sitting next to the cruiser.

I need to prioritize that list and start the process of checking things off of it.

More to come after basketball.

Toyota family of engine upgrades? 1Fz/fe - 1uz ? Diesel? Other?

Currently considering options too. Interested in which direction you are leaning and why.

Honestly don’t know yet.

I know it won’t be a diesel. Although efficiency is nice with the diesels. I’ve had enough diesels for two or three lifetimes.

More than likely it will end up with something in the LS platform. Simply because I have a H55 and Gm balhousing already. Parts are probably more available than anything else in the nation. I am very familiar with them. They are incredibly reliable.

A 2UZ isn’t out of the question. I have a line on a complete 4.7 Sequioa that would be cheap enough to be worth it.

Honestly a good 2F isn’t out of the equation either. However power vs cost the LS wins every time. I could purchase all of the LS parts, and engine for the cost of a Good 2F. Plus have 2x the power.

The 4.7 would definitely push a 40 series down the road. 👍🏻

The quirkish side of me likes the 1Fz. I think it’s the straight 6 sitting in the engine bay that has an appeal. The FE comes in at 212 hp/275 lb ft in the FE flavor. Uncle Toyota still has short blocks/heads available.

But, bang for the $$$ is still in the LS package.

Again, I was just curious as to the rationale/direction you were using/heading.
