Possibly, I have had so much going on in the last 5 months I have not had time for ANY of my pre-planned FJ40 projects since the Sniper in September. All the parts are there just waiting.

But, there may come that moment with zero planning when I spot a hunk of sheet metal rusting away under something and it turns into a foldable shelf. Of course that puts off a slew of other stuff. I know most of us have been there… maybe not @Skreddy

His shop went together like an HGTV remodel…a few weeks and he’s got everything in there 👏👏👏

To be fair, my air lines are half done and I haven’t put the weatherstrip around the overhead doors. As soon as I could start working on cruisers again I started neglecting the little thangs needing finished.

@Skreddy well then, you ARE human! Only that energizer bunny keeps going and going and going… I did the same thing on our addition…since August we plowed along every day. It’s NOT TECHNICALLY finished. You could have a party in there and no one would really know, but, Still doing slow stuff like baseboard molding, continuing the new floor into several other rooms, painting, etc. “The small details” . We sit and watch TV at night instead of pushing as hard. Don’t ask about my Land Cruiser , now on target for April?

You should know I absolutely admire your shop and the amazing work you put in it as well as so many others I have seen here. RapidAir MaxLine was a really great thing for me…

Drum rear.
I'm right in the middle of doing a rear disc conversion (78' 40) and got a smokin' deal on some 315/70/17s. Figuring out what offset I need to go with to get 17's or stay stock with the 15s and 3.5"

Literally just picked up weber conversion yesterday and was going to install this weekend and now have some concerns after reading your thread; however, I'm in Las Vegas, NV where its currently a balmy 51. Lol.

As much as I hated on the Weber early on once I’ve got it dialed it’s definitely not bad. I drive it every day. 7 degrees yesterday, 18 this morning.

Would OEM or sniper be better? Probably. Are they basically free and work? Nope.

If you have a good running OEM carb I would keep it.

I chased Weber issues constantly but when it worked it worked great. Switched to a city racer carb and it’s been good but I have had some gremlins to chase. Now that I have those figured out it runs fantastic but I feel like the Webber was a better cold start carb and I do miss the electronic choke.

Snow rainy Saturday at home.

We have a baby due at any time. She’s over due by 3 days at this point. We go in next Wednesday to induce if no baby before hand.

My 3 year old wanted a daddy cruiser day. Which involved will it even fit in the garage.

Turns out it will. It scrubs the door seal on the way in, but it’s inside and the glass top isn’t broken.

She played here for hours while I just piddled.

New mirrors installed ✅
Back up light mounted ✅

Next order of operations was to finish the seat heater install.

You can see my professionalism at work here.

I also changed the foam in my seat from the 4” to a firm 2” and added foam between the springs. The 4” was just too much and drove me crazy.

Also added a 3” wide strip at the passenger seat corner / side to act as a bolster and hopefully help keep from sliding toward the door constantly.

Thinking about going with this same mirrors. Kinda strange that the whole thing is concave but I’m trying to piece together brackets and such.
Is the concave weird to drive with?

I installed today and have not driven with them.

However they seem pretty ok sitting in the seat after adjustment.

I only had rear view mirror previously, so this is an upgrade.

I dig the convex side views, takes a hair getting used to but great view.

I gots a question about the steel wheels.
Will they fit a 80 series to 40 swap? I'm hoping I can narrow the track width using 80 axles in the frame swap to keep the fender widening to a minimum to preserve the original 40/45 look. Im not sure how much off set I can run before the wheel hits the brake calipers

The tire your running is exactly what I'm looking to have. Can you give the size ,I looked in the thread but must missed it.
The 2024 Landcruiser has a huge back space this style would definitely set the wheels to close the 40's track width but may have tire frame clearance issues. Any ideas?

I know of a 40 being built on 80 axles and they are running +35 offset 17” wheels to get the tires closer to under the body.

My tires are 35-10.5R17 Kenda Klever MT
I’m happy with them so far.

17" would be fine.
In a 8" wide rim stock had 4.5 back spacing 0.0 off set.
I'm still lost on the off set +35 is what to backspace?
For my brain to get around this off set a 8" wide and 4.5 fits as stock.
Will 6.5" back space fit at full turn not having tire rub?
I'm doing full 80 frame swap.
I been to a tire shop here but with out having a 80 series yet they are clueless and what ever I pointed at they said it would fit. Language barrier.

I don't want the wide fender look. Even 7" x17 would be fine I can out wheel most people on narrower tires with full lockers then having really wide tires. Come to think about it I out wheeled lots of jeeps in my baja bug.

+35 offset is what is generic terms anymore.

A 6.5” back space wheel will be ideal in moving your wheels inward. However I don’t know if if they will rub anything. You will have more inward wheel set than stock wheels if you go with that, I think you’ll just have to try it and see. Most people with 80 series run a “0” offset wheel as like you said that’s what was factory.

Some tek..

4” HFS springs, barbell shackles.

33-10,5-15 BFG KM3 with 25 psi - 74” to drip rail.

35-10.50-17 Kenda Klever MT 20psi - 75.5” to drip rail.

Guess it’s time to pull a leaf spring and see if it’ll go back in the garage.

Quoting myself.

After getting the tire carrier back on and getting some weight back on the gal she’s down to 75” at the drip rail.

After I build a front bumper I intend to pull a leaf out of the front spring if it doesn’t sag a little. It’s nose high all the time and more stiff in the front than I would like.

Adding to the quote.

If I put my 200lb self on the front bumper the front of the frame maybe lowers 1/4”.. it’s a little over sprung.
