Everything went smooth and everything seems to be working as it should, now it's time to get it out and try it in the woods.

Yeah man. I will be interested in your thoughts on the swap and the change in driving style on the trail. I am going all in on the 80 (well gathering parts for it) and for now sticking with the auto, but will be interested in how it handles and some feedback on it vs. working off the torque converter. So when is the shake down run?

I'm pretty sure I'm going to miss the auto on the trail at least for awhile, the manual I used is an R150F which has a much lower 1rst gear than the auto so that should help.
Shake down run will be OTM, if your there I'll let you take it for a spin and you can get a side by side comparison at least with your runner.

@jason in tn appreciate the offer, but we got logistical issues this year and won't be making OTMT this year. Kinda bummed but we found out today that is the little :princess: first full day of school.

I did get the 4runner unloaded tonight, finally...

Grabbed a quick pic of the haul, gonna try to get a better one this weekend.

For the time being we will just be cleaning and painting parts, prepping things for install later this year after.

So I am planning to install my ICONs this weekend. I can't seem to come up with a great deal that might crop up.

Three little nuts and one big bolt on each side up front and a nut and a bolt on each side out back. As long as the shocks are out and the brake lines have travel, I am thinking I should be able to just jack up the rear, drop out the old springs and pop in the new ones and then bolt up the new shocks. Up front, I may need to un-bolt the lower BJ to slide the new shocks in, but that should be the biggest headache. Am I missing anything? @jason in tn you got any pointers for the install?

The rear should work like you said. You may have to pry the spring over the cup on the bottom, I've also used a small bottle jack between the axle and the bump stop just to gain a little extra room. The fronts are a pita it doesn't matter what I've tried, I normally have help so I use a pry bar between the UCA and the spring bucket while my help works the lower bolt, I've read about guys using a ratchet strap to pull the knuckle down enough to get the spring assembly in, your idea of separating the LBJ is probably the safest and most logical. Just make sure you use locktight on those bolts when they go back in they are known to work lose even with it. You shouldn't have any brake line issues or anything. Good luck with it.

Thanks bud. Need to pick up some red loctite. When I put the highlander COs unbolting the LBJ seemed to work. Should be a fun day.

Can't wait to see the end results.

Well, looks like the wait may be a week more. Spent the weekend working on the barn instead. Not gonna make OTMT due to some logistical challenges (read my baby girls first day of school and a spastic dog with no where to stay) so will probably be out at the farm wrenching instead. Have fun at OTMT, look for a full report on the event, the park and the shakedown.

I understand priorities Jynx, working on projects will much easier/fun in a finished building.
Hate you have to miss OTM but again I understand, enjoy the youngins while there you go missed a lot with mine and there's no getting it back.
We go through eagleville coming in and out of shelbyville maybe we can meet up sometime and catch up.

installed ram horn manifolds and had new exhaust built for the 40. so quiet now and hopfully a bit cooler on the feet! also installed new 4" pipe from turbo out on the old tow rig.

Good job Andy. However, you do know that a creeper will not work on Roger's trailer at 60MPH right?

Baby steps man, baby steps. I'll get it done in time dont worry.;)

Guys this is my new tow rig that's up for sale and soon to be on eBay. 97 f350 with 89,xxx original miles. 7.3 turbo with 5 speed. 6 position chip, 4inch turbo to tip, air filter, new batteries, this thing is a beast. Hunter can vouch for it, he drove it to myrtle beach with me. New tires. I have too much stuff and don't need this. $6800 is firm price.

Wow, funny and disgusting all at the same time. Win-Win :hillbilly:

Not my land cruiser but I got the intercooler hooked back up and working on my Ford finally.
