One man HAMOM
I have had a set of high range and low range sumo gears in the garage for about a year now. Finally got a spare case from another ONSC member. Did a bench build with the Sumo gears the last few days. First time I’ve ever tore into a case. Thank goodness for Otramms video on YouTube. I have a TV mounted right above the workbench. Priceless tool. it’s all back together now it has to go in the truck to see if it actually works!
Going to start on a set of just low range gears in another case. Added some boring meaningless pictures for your entertainment

Havent installed yet. Ran out of time before Relic Run. Leaving town for work next week. Probably be June before install. Im hoping not any louder. They're still helical cut. 10% reduction only. We shall see.
 
Picked up some pretty 3rds from Troll Hole’s yesterday with the new gears. Managed to get them back into their home before the sun went down. Now it’s just the 2nd half of an axle job. Trunion races and axle seals are already swapped and the rotors are the only hurdle left before getting it buttoned back up and breaking in the gears.

Then changed the oil in the 200 and grabbed a sample for Blackstone. It has been a year since she was back on the road after “the incident” and I want another look. Typical lately, my last TRD oil filter was found to be defective when I pulled it from the box. One endcap was noticeably higher on one side. Back to a standard Toyota cartridge.
 
not looking forward to sunday to see how bad my pads and rotors are....
 
What started off as throwing some new seals and gaskets in the t case while it’s out of the truck and give it a good look through turned into a can of worms. Looks like the PO never checked fluid levels, it might have had 4 ounces in it at most.

I spent the money and had Josie do the drivers training class that came with the test so she wouldn't have to do the test at the DMV. She passed and when we went up to get her picture taken at the DMV she won the random retake the DMV does to make sure these training places are doing their job correctly. The car I was driving was the 570. Not the easiest thing to drive much less parallel park. She did great up until that which she was so freaked out she would hit something she couldn't do it. The DMV let her try 16 times before they let her use the cameras. Luckily I think they felt sorry for her she got drawn and it was such a big SUV and passed her.

Well boys it looks like I finally became a victim of the head gasket. 309,000 miles and not a single drop of anything leaking from any part of my truck. Lol. It started to sputter, and then I could hear what sound like a leaky header. It was late when I got home so I parked it. Went out to check it out just now and it wouldn’t turn over, so I realized it must be Hydro locked. Then I pulled the radiator cap. It’s rusty and the water is gone. Decisions decisions.
The first person that uses the term “LS swap“ I will promptly block on any social media and then avoid you at every event moving forward🤣🤣🤣 I may have to go dig up that high performance 1FZ thread that MrEby sent me. Although I’m having a pretty hard tug towards a 2UZ.
