Solve function for the win. Does it match? Nope. Does it look better than the gaping hole around my key block? Yep. I included the last picture to let y’all know what I figured out the hard way. You throw this piece away. It’s only for shipping.🤣

Yup, a little Solve Function action here too. With the platform in place, my aux power was inaccessible without swinging out the bumper arms and dropping the hatch. Clean, easy install. Anyone want a quarter panel already prepped for power?

Also cleaned and rewrapped the winch line. Fresh remote batteries ready for fun ahead.

My speedo works again after this wiring harness was replaced - to the rear axle. One of the original harness clips failed and it hit the exhaust. I tried splicing in new wires twice and it still didn't work, so I got the part from Mr T. Had to drop the tank to get to it though do it was a lengthy process.

Figured out why my speakers sounded like Doodoo. Fixed that problem with four new Kenwood‘s to go with a new Kenwood amp hidden behind the walls in the back and a new double din touchscreen head unit.

I don’t know if it bothers you guys as much as it does me, but I cannot stand my iPad that I use for navigation shaking constantly while driving on and off road. Previously, it was just mounted from the useless cubby attachment from wits end. So I went to a windshield mount, which works pretty good. But inevitably, it works its way down until it’s touching the dash and still shakes some. Since the dash is perfect we can’t have that going on because eventually it will rub marks onto it right? So I came up with this little solution goofing off in the garage. I actually like it pretty good and it is rocksolid. Right now I have a strip of rubber on top I may switch to Velcro to make it even better , these silly things like this make me happy. Lol. I’ll probably actually have one bent now that I have the dimensions that I want. I just weld and grind some aluminum plate. I had laying around for this one. Or I may just clean up this little prototype a little bit and roll with it. Thought about extending it further for other accessories, maybe hit three bolt holes, and then running a power cord through a drilled hole in the useless cubby mount itself. We shall see.

This week I got my FJ back.

PXL_20230413_200602306.jpg

I was driving down 123 and saw MY actual FJ I bought new in 2008 for sale! I sold her about 8 years ago and regretted it ever since. Happy to have her back. I will have to put a suspension back on the front because it got downgraded over the years and I'll probably be changing the wheels. It was an amazing reunion. We just had to take it camping over the weekend too.

Feels amazing. Time to renew my Membership to UC if you all will have me back.

I finally got around to fixing my rear locker with a brand new shiny actuator on my dirty axle. I might even swap the steering box before leaving for the Carolina relic run this weekend. The twisted sector shaft does make me a bit nervous. Even more than the slight knock coming from the #5 rod bearing. We’ll see how motivated I am later this week.

3rd Blackstone report back on the 200 (1k, 3k with oil change, and now another 1k). Everything looks good and seems to be running fine. Looks like I'm keeping it afterall.

Also learned that the vented seats have an air filter so popped those out and cleaned them up.

The week after GSMTR and nothing? Come on! The other Lane Cruisers and I need to live vicariously through your pictures after squandering another unlocked weekend.
We did bunny trails because we had some noobs and one Moby Dick in our group. Trail 22 the first day and Trail 26 out to the Prison on Sat. Ran open diffs all weekend.

Finished my platform. I was reluctant to use dado joints for fear I might not like it or want a different height. Somewhat happy with the block and screw construction though. Seems pretty strong. Plan to use underbed plastic containers for the "drawers".

We had a great time! Explored off property on the north side and found some cool stuff. Did a guided tour of Brushy Mountain Prison with a former inmate. Conquered the ledge at the entrance to trail 82 on the American Knob. Did 36, 27, 26, 83, 41, and 22. We also spent most of Saturday on a great trail ride through 16, and rebuilding Steve’s knuckle after it fell off. Check your nuts!
