Started work on the Swingout ....worked up a jerry can holder before I ran out of parts and can't find a bender local for 2" so heading to a mud friends house this week and likely switching to 1.75" for the tire carrier.

This type of oil filter wrench will fix that issue, completely.

The issue, I think, isn't the overtightening of oil filters on install. My 80 has the stickiest d*mn oil filter in the most awkward position of any car I've ever owned.

What this kind of wrench does is fix the awkward positioning and makes removal easy (and clean).

How have I never seen these before? Do they really work? I am gonna buy the Craftsman one right now and give it a shot.

Both my 80 and my 3.0L 4Runner are always a PIA to remove. 99% of the time I have to hammer it off with a long piece of tube stock.

I drove my 92 last night. Noticed a huge difference in the brakes. Felt like when the brake booster went out. But then remembered the rock auto reman booster had two extra ports and I had capped them 3-4 years ago with rubber caps that I had with the intention of replacing them with silicone ones. Well, I never got around to it. They were rotted out and barely hanging on. Put the new silicone caps on that have been sitting in one of my parts bins. Took 30 seconds. Brakes work like normal again.

And yeah, one of these days I will get around to taking the brake booster off and painting it black. Stupid! :bang:

I swear I only hand tight my filters, they never leak and always come off by hand. I can't figure out how you guys do it on your trucks.

Yes it works I bought one a couple of years ago.Thats a good investment.

only tighten my filters by hand and they still can't be removed easily. Was always struggling until I got a camming socket gizmo recently and I can now remove them easily standing up. Joy!!
