Thanks for your 24 years of faithful service. ✌🏻

Replaced hood struts with new OEM pair. The hood now opens with power to the point where it reverbs like a speaker at the top. Gravity alone doesn’t shut it either; must apply force.

Hatch and hood struts finally refreshed! Onto the next one.

Ok. Made a newb mistake on power steering pump. I reversed the order of the pressure valve and spring. So got it all back together and no power steering.

Pic of the WRONG order!!! Was able to unbolt the hose and the union bolt to put these back in the right order. Spring first then the valve with the slot side up. Duh.
Bleed and bubbles are done. And the pump is absolutely purring quietly. New low pressure hoses - OEM ones from oil cooler are from other Toyota’s per FAQ

Ended up using the mobil DTE 24 for the fluid.

-Also completed full radiator flush, new small hoses (didn’t do the one by starter or top of block). New thermostat (didn’t do the bypass orings).

-New heater valve and green stripe hoses.

-used this vacuum pick up for coolant fill and also ran the extra gallons distilled water through a couple times for practice. Great tool.

-Made this for the pet cock on the rad drain. As a bonus, it floats when it falls into your catch basin

- fixed the rear shock bolt I buggered
- re torqued all wheel nuts the tire shop buggered.

-installed new fuseable link.

Ready for the trip next weekend.
Did not do the fuel filter yet, next time.

@HardyDanger that petcock tool is pretty smart.

When I was replacing my small radiator hoses I was over the moon when I saw the ones by the starter had been recently replaced by the PO when he did the fuel filter.

I’m mostly sitting on my hands this weekend waiting for an advanced stripped screw extractor kit to show up so I can remove one screwed screw on my oil pump face plate. I went deep on stripped screw extraction videos on YouTube this weekend.

Relocated my cheap HF winch control unit and installed a winch battery isolator.

Busy weekend between house chores, and car washing took most of Saturday but Sunday was spent on my latest project.

315's installed on my reconditioned wheels. peeled a bit more wood from the dash, and performed a 90% successful boardectomy.

Changed front Ujoints again, hoping for some vibrations to go away.

While under there, checked this out. No in/out play, but the last bit of turn in each direction feels a bit notchy, you can kinda see it in the video below. Feels almost like a bad bearing, but it's smooth at first, so I'm kinda thinking that maybe it's each of the different gearing backlashes between here and the wheels closing up.

Am I wrong? Is this a sign I need to pull the third out and look? Thoughts? I probably should have lifted the front and spun the wheels by the pinion, but I'll try that tomorrow.
