Rear interior cargo panels have begun!!!

Got the old panel lay'd out on top of the surprisingly strong composite board Ill be using. I planned to use a ply wood of some sort but they tend to shatter/splinter really badly when they are too thin. So I went with some composite board that seemed to be the perfect thickness. Its really strong and firm, but is also fairly light and very easy to work with. So, without further ado.

All thats left is to cut the door, buy hinges and a latching system. Then Im going to paint it basic gloss grey to match the carpeting.

Does anyone have any suggestions for closure options? Both hinges AND a latching system. I want it to be as snag-free and low profile as possible while being tough. I also dont want to have to climb all the way in the back just to open the compartment.

Any ideas are appreciated!!!

Will, I looked at doing this before. I'd use a piano hinge all the way across the door opening and then 1 or 2 Perko boat latches

http://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/perko-flush-latch-without-lock-black?a=260431that lock.

Perko is proud of their stuff.... McMaster Carr etc... will have a similar style for less...

Hi Spud, did you notice that front bumper on the last picture of post #1023 above with the little bluey in front? Do you reckon that would be legal over here? Looks like a handy setup to use with a hand winch as well as the reese bar.
Hey Paul
Yes mate totally legal, yeah it is a good setup, I didn't notice it before, ATM I don't have recovery points, so I might weld some of those on my bar

:( I, uh, started cleaning all my gear (sniff) out of the 61 as its being, GULP, sold on Thursday... boohoo. However, I will be moving to the 80 and Diesel forum as I'm picking up an HDJ81 this weekend! :bounce2:

Purchased a front passenger side and rear driver side quarter panel to take care of this...

Top of the World in Moab plus some camping at sand flats (first time I've camped there, it's usually full by the time I get there).

I just finished putting LEDs on my backup lights.

Man what a difference. I think in the end, both lights give me like 230 degrees of light. I can see on the side I the rig.

I got these from superbrightleds.com
