Crappy weather, knocked out:
Haven’t had a chance to test it because of rain.

Do you have plans to hard-mount it?

I've briefly scoped and considered but haven't put in the time to do it... I'd put it aft of the airbox and probably fab a tray modeled after the secondary batter tray kit that's out there...

I don’t have plans to mount it. I like being able to use it easily for other vehicles. Onboard air is pretty slick though.

Man, here I think I’m done with a mod, and then y’all share these helpful guides and give me another project to consider, lol.

I like the flexibility of it not being hard mounted, but it does look pretty nice.
Once I mount mine I'll keep the viair 88p as the mobile compressor.
Viair 88p fite perfectly in a 0.50 cal ammo can, btw and has amazing specs for what it is! (see my build thread)

Hard-mounted with a 25' flex hose will get multiple vehicles. Pop the hood, insert the hose in the chuck, flip the switch, and start airing!

I do still retain and use a small cordless compressor for other tasks.

Never thought I'd do this but I'm returning the tires I just bought.

Replaced my Cooper STMaxxes (made it nearly 60k miles) with Toyo AT3s a couple weeks ago. They are incredibly buzzy, and oddly squirrelly at highway speed. I was really surprised at my reaction. It's weird because they're really loud and vibrate-y when tracking straight, but if you turn 10 degrees, completely smooth and quiet. The squirrellyness kinda felt like if you had one of your tires overinflated.
Anyway, maybe I got a bad batch or something, but I'm not going to live with these for 5 years, so I'm going to try some K02s to see what the fuss is all about. Discount Tire gets a shout out because they didn't blink twice on the exchange.

I’ve always itched to try another tire... But I’ve run BFG KO’s (both the 1 and the 2) for over 20 years on 5 different vehicles. All different sizes and load ranges and they just perform. They stick to the road like glue, are super tough and grippy off road, great in snow, and you get a ton of miles out of them. They just darn work. I am perfectly satisfied to use them from here on out, as long as BFG doesn’t screw them up.

Found a leak in the rear cargo area =|

It’s not the usual suspects like rear quarter window moulding.

Pulled everything out of the cargo area: carpet, carpet padding, side wall trim pieces…everything.

Carpet was only wet in the center along where it meets the weather stripping for the door. No metal was wet after pulling all the carpet out. No water dripping down the sides of the interior walls or pooling anywhere.

I peeled back the weather stripping, and the inside of it was soak and gunky. Looks like the sealant inside turned to liquid. Have some rust now in spots where the weather stripping attaches to the body.

Weather stripping is pretty new, too. Replaced it in 2019 when I bought the car. No damage to the weather stripping anywhere. Still pliable and swollen rubber.

Seems like water was getting under the weather stripping and running along the body.

Removed the weather stripping. Cleaned it thoroughly since it was nasty and grimy. Re-applied the weather stripping and sprayed the car down heavy with the hose.

Peeled back the weather stripping, and water is pooling.

Sides of the body are bone dry. Can’t figure out where the water is entering the weather stripping
pain in the ass

Those stick on sheets mainly help with ringing of panels. You want to throw some more foam like what's under the factory carpet where its missing and a layer of mass loaded vinyl everywhere to cut down on the deeper frequencies

That’s why I said there’s tons more to do. I ripped all of the jute pad off and put super dense carpet padding. It should be bitch’n when it’s done.

I snapped in (thats all you really do) my interior tire mount. Rather than just two ratchet straps. The circumference ratchet strap is still used for extra safety.
Not an entirely perfect mount, but better than just the ratchet straps. My 295/70 fits in just perfect. A 35" tire may rub but it would be close.
I still have enough room for my lightweight travel needs.
Keeping the exterior clear of stuff hanging all over! 😎

Is that a kit or DIY?
There were a couple threads/discussions about this/these a while back. . .
Clean and useful!

Fresh oil change with Mobil1 Extended Performance full syn, started stripping the ghetto spray paint tint off the tail lights. So far after several crank and run cycles just sitting in the driveway the Hewitt-Tech SAIS bypass kit seems to have fixed the codes I had. Hope to drive it in a week or so.

Well today was both a good day and a bad day all in one. Today I said goodbye to my GX. The new owner took it home today to begin its new life with them. That’s the bad news, now for the good news.

The reason the GX went to a new home is because I found my dream truck. I have wanted one for a decade now and have been passively looking for quite a while and it finally came up for sale so I jumped. It’s a 2016 Land Cruiser in Blue Onyx Pearl with 70k miles.

I’ll be sure to check in once in a while but for now I’ll see y’all in the 200 forum!

With the RW wheels already. Congrats! That’s an amazingly pretty color. De-chrome in the future?
